I used to live right on the border between a middle/upper area and an impoverished one in Los Angeles. The difference in aesthetics, friendliness, etc. was night and day. You cross under the overpass and it turns into a different world.
There used to be a homeless lady who would wander into our section at night to sleep. She told me that the grass was way nicer on our side and no one would fuck with her. She slept in the same spot everyday and actually made a permanent imprint in the ground. Eventually the neighbors complained because she killed the grass. Somedays she'd sleep there until noon, sometimes naked. Always made me laugh though.

When I would change out a water meter I would have excess dirt from digging out meter boxes that were full I would collect in buckets. I was working in South Dallas today, the ghetto part of town that is 100% black, and every home was falling apart in some way. Every home had bars on the windows. We were picking up a patient in an apartment complex, a couple buildings were boarded up, one black person in a NASCAR jacket was dealing drugs out in the open, there was CRIP spraypainted on a wall.
Where I live blacks have been moving in more and more, and there has been a noticeable increase in crime. I don't understand WHY I have to tolerate these people. Why do I have to pay taxes for them to lounge around during the day- on the drive to the patient in South Dallas I saw so many black people mulling around midday, obviously not employed.
