There is something called law that needs to be obeyed in first world countries, not that you would know anything about that.
>>
>You'll never be hardcore enough to participate in illegal castle building
>>
>>55325566
Looks like a fire hazard
>>
>>55325566

That looks like it's innacountry.

We don't have zoning laws in the country, only in cities.

>just build anything anywhere I guess, it wont be a problem

Also I remember reading about this story YEARS ago, is this a new one or has someone else built a castle and tried to hide it?
>>
>>55325566
They'll literally demolish it, too, just because the guy didn't go through the bureaucracy.
>>
>>55326055
It was built on green belt land, hidden behind straw bales for four years.
He already sold it, probably to another gypsy friend.
3 months jail if he doesn't pull it down by April

A man's home is his castle, they said.
>>
>>55326220
>It was built on green belt land

Yet his land nonetheless. Presumably he was living in it. I'm surprised the UK doesn't have homestead laws.
>>
>>55326395
the government used a loophole to bypass the homestead law
>>
>not defending your castle from invading forces
>>
>>55326442

That's some shit
>>
>>55326395
It's not his land unless it's freehold lease and meets the criteria of the building regulations.

Simple as that.

It's what stops us from being like China and building absolute shit that falls apart or blows up every 5 seconds.
>>
>>55326238
clearly we wasted out efforts and they'd all be enjoying Third Reich tier architecture and no immigrants raping their children if we'd have minded out own business..

I wonder who got us involved over there...

americans aren't allowed to collect rainwater that lands on their roof lmao

also I'm in two minds about planning permission laws, on one had people should be allowed to develop their own land especially if it's for their own residence, on the other hand people would likely abuse the system and ruin the character of local areas if they could get away with it

>>

I don't see anything wrong here.
He got in jail, not for building the castle, but for building it illegally.
The law would have not allowed him to build it because it was probably on a bad terrain or it is badly designed. When the social security have to pay for your mistakes, expect some obligations.

Did you see what happened in Lewes?

There was this New Zealand woman and this stupid art guy that built this horrendous building using this rust metal shit.

It's a fucking eye sore to Lewes, even the Mayor of Lewes didn't want that shit built.

This is why we have planning permission.

We don't have that much space either and we must protect our green land, not give it away to pooskins.

>>
>>55326645
I've heard those laws get particularly bad in the city, where people will build deeper and deeper into the earth to make their houses larger by adding more subterranean levels.

Planning permission still, somehow, remains a joke. most city councils will accept any big business coming in to build an ugly metal box with a 2 acre parking lot and attach a nasty looking strip mall beside it.

But god forbid a man want to build a castle.

No. The local councils will order the removal of them.

You can camp in public places for no more than one night, but you'll be removed if you stay any longer.

>>

All forests and national parks are owned by English heritage trust.

They'd have designated camp sites at each of them, but in regards to living off the grid I don't know? To build a home etc? They need planning permission like everyone else, no matter where it's located.

Sure we have tent cities but most are illegal squats that refuse to move and are engaged in a constant legal battle.

>>
>>55326570
Time to take the blinkers off. Have you seen the quality of shit we now have for new builds? They are made as fast as possible out of the cheapest materials possible, then sold at a hugely inflated price (which is more to do with the value of the land it's built on), and trust me on this, it will fall apart.

Our old apartment was a good example, it was less than 5 years old. Myself and my mate were mounting the tv to the wall and took the measurements on each side including the ceiling height so we could mount it dead centre. The ceiling to floor height was different on each side and it was due to the fact that one side of the building had started to sink into the fucking ground. We had to leave as the place for sold by the landlord but he got £150,000 for it. For a place with thin walls, no insulation, failing groundwork and a kitchen from Ikea. Expensive yes, but "Quality" isn't exactly what jumps to mind when I think of newly built UK property.
>>
>>55328738
Mama mia!
>>
>>55329464
Not here mate. My family has owned part of our land since before anyone else claimed it. Fucking Rupert's Land goes around it. We've never paid "property tax" on it. My whatever-father came over in the 16th century with a bunch of mates, headed west and said "Fuck you all this in mine now". Over the years, the other families have died out or sold off their original land. But we still have ours. And we can do whatever the fuck we want on it.
>>
>>55330253

you might be part of the lucky few.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_ownership_in_Canada

>The majority of all lands in Canada are held by governments in the name of the monarch and are called Crown Lands. About 89% of Canada's land area (8,886,356 km2) is Crown Land, which may either be federal (41%) or provincial (48%); the remaining 11% is privately owned.[2] Most federal Crown land is in the Canadian territories (Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon), and is administered on behalf of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada; only 4% of land in the provinces is federally controlled, largely in the form of National Parks, Indian reserves, or Canadian Forces bases. In contrast, provinces hold much of their territory as provincial Crown Land, which may be held as Provincial Parks or wilderness.

Speaks the truth. My dad retired this year and was looking for a house. He looked at all the modern pre-built places, and the price is always completely absurd for how cheap the shit is. The only benefit is how fast you get it, otherwise it's complete crap.

So instead he bought a 400K square feet piece of land with a hunting lodge and a large garage on it for 100K, and we spent the summer turning the garage into a house for about 50K.

Pic related was about halfway done with the work.
