Marx was a Westerner (An Anti-Semitic Lutheran, by the way,) who articulated (about half) of the problems of Free Market Capitalism.
Rather than try to make Free Market Capitalism work after Mao, the Chinese 'stole' his lessons to create a more productive system, which, although has it's share of problems, did industrialize China very fast.
It gets harder and harder to respect Western Civilization, because any nuance of intelligence is considered bad. We are no better than East Asia, when it comes to this level of close-mindedness.
I guess that's why East Asia stole our jobs. They had the humility to listen to skeptics, rather than blindly trust big business to tell us what to do.
