How will it benefit my country or more importantly me or lower/middle class citizens?
I am for slow immigration in general but I think that almost all immigration should be done only for the benefit of the native peoples.
If letting in a huge wave of Mexican immigrants helps the 1% but overall hurts the quality of life/opportunites of the native people then why should I support it?
Obviously this country has been hurt badly by many things but our extremely lax and charity based immigration policies since the mid 1900's has also helped degrade things big time.

Chicanos are a nation with no state. Mexico doesn't want them, America doesn't want them (and it shouldn't) so of course they want their own nation and the races will never live together en mass.
They are not Americans, they think they are because they believe in a bastardized version of America but they are not Americans and America could never assimilate all of them. It probably would be just as difficult for Mexico to take them.

They are breaking the law of my country. My government has allowed them to remain in order to depress woking class wages. I don't hate Mexicans or other immigrants. I hate what mass illegal immigration dose to my country. Illegals cost my state alone almost 30 billion dollars a year and their eight kids cost a shit ton more to educate. Since they don't generally don't pay property taxes or any taxes for that matter. Its just another expensive burden they pass on to law abiding citizens. Really the answer is just that most forms of immigration don't help a country most of the time unless they are slow, purposeful and dileberate.
Rarely does large scale help a country especially one that is already developed and populated by a huge number of people.
I mean look at Sweden or Germany.
