Yes, the job of a shunter is to move cars around the yard and line them up for the real train to couple and take out onto the mainline. It is proper bitchwork, man. We don't even use an engine anymore, just a Unimog with a coupling arm.

It's huge over here in the US. When I was little it was my #1 show. I'm still nostalgic every now and then but looking back at it, the show was pretty dark and had disturbing undertones I didn't understand as a child.
