i have a friend on steam from the USA (michigan specifically) who leeches welfare and he told me it was very difficult to get. the process can take between 1 and 2 years, even more if the judge rejects your initial application. and obviously the lawyer handling your case won't do it for free. you will also need documentation from a doctor saying you are truly incapable. the best way to start is by faking a suicide attempt and calling 911. this will be on your records and it will give you a stronger case.
there are some disadvantages. it is possible the judge won't give you the money directly, but to a "trustee" your mom or dad most likely. also your expenses will be monitored by welfare officers.
