This is also common in the US now. If its not mentioned, then the criminal is brown or black because they always make sure you know its a white man. Unless they are talking about suspects, at which case they give details if its a white suspect (6ft white man brown hair etc) or no details at all or just sparse details if brown or black (6ft man with brown hair)
