Not many girls want to live on an oil rig, and we'll all end up fighting over the very few that got dragged along. It also would suck for all of us. I think these would be good candidates for what we want to do. All are in the middle of the ocean, not near any major islands like Fiji or Vanuatu, and have a good amount of space. The hilly one would be hard to build on but has a lot of space and is more secure; the atolls have less space but would be easier to build on, and you could build into the lagoon.
I even think it's good that they're part of French Polynesia, island nations like the one I mentioned would be more desperate to keep their real estate, that's why these guy's attempt got annexed by Tonga:

If you're really into that stuff, mainly what we're waiting on is vertical mariculture. That will create a legitimate business need for saturation diving habitats in support of it.
Right now most opereations are limited to a couple of enclosures that can easily be harvested on the surface by teams of divers operating from boats.
