Guys, I don't know where else to make this thread so I'm gonna make it politically-related as possible.

>1. Should whales be kept in captivity? Why or why not?

>2. Are beluga whales dangerous?

ToTT:

I'm going to SeaWorld this week. Fascinated by whales and animals in general, so going to a giant marine zoo sounded sick.

However, I just found out that my party just booked a beluga whale interactive tour, which means that I'll be swimming with these things.

I should mention my worst fear is being in the water with an orca, and this isn't TOO far off from that.

Am I gonna fucking die /pol/ ? Why the fuck are these creatures allowed to be kept captive when all they do is plot their next fucking victim all day? Will I be their next target?

I need to mull this over within the next few hours. I'm about to get on a plane and won't have a computer or anything until I get home and I could be dead by then. They're gonna fucking drag me underwater and feed.

that's what I'm saying, it's them or me what do I do

I'm not gonna be a little bitch and not do it, but this is my worst fear incarnate. Or pretty close. Belugas aren't as big or scary looking as orcas, so I dunno.

They have metal detectors and dudes that pat you down and check for weapons when you enter the park, already thought of this, not gonna happen. Gonna be completely unarmed on these beasts' home turf.

this is gonna be the last thing I see

1. For entertainment purposes? No. Like all relatively smart animals, they'll inevitably go psychotic without stimulation. Fortunately, I don't think Seaworld actively hunts for wild cetaceans anymore; it's practically impossible to simulate their natural environment. But being raised in a cage still fucks with a smart creature's mind, so eventually they'll decide to kill the next person that drops into their tank. Or roll over and die at 1/3rd their normal lifespan.

For rehabilitation? Sure, I don't see anything wrong with that. Plenty of opportunity to study them in that case as well.

Where it gets grey for me is what to do with ones born in captivity. If the mother was born in the wild, and is capable of being released, releasing them together would probably work out. If the parents are dead though, I don't know if releasing it would do any good for either party.

2. I've never heard of captive beluga whales killing anyone, but... I wouldn't swim with one.

Nigga they can smell your fear. They know you're terrified and they're gonna fucking molest you over that.

Nice knowing you anon, rip

>captive beluga whales killing
that's what I was thinking, partially how they communicate is blasting whatever they see with sound and reading the subject's emotions with sensors or whatever, so they can sense your heartrate and other shit like that, and I feel like I'm gonna freak them out and they're gonna terminate me or I'm gonna make them nervous or whatever

>>55243983
I'm wishy-washy about it, but I think for the most part orcas are driven insane by being captive.
>>
>>55244065
well, I was stuck in a legit whirlpool once and I can assure you that drowning isn't that scary or painful, you hardly know whats going on when you're getting whipped around

Definitely not gonna puss out. I'm doing this. But I think the whales are gonna detect my fear and I'm gonna freak them out and they're gonna fucking dismember me.

>>55244121
Dude I dunno, people who have survived animal attacks, particularly underwater animal attacks like whales said it was scary as fuck. Sounds like a painful and terrifying way to go.

Look at this massive beast. It would make any great white its squealing bitch. A large bull orca is almost as big as a T-Rex IIRC.

i eat animals, so i don't give a fuck about animals

>>55244219
I still remember that Sea land video..
Fuck the ocean and everything in it tbf.
>>
>>55243494
Personally I don't think they should be.
The only reason they are is because it's much too expensive to go see whales on your own and to satisfy wageslave bread and games.
Beluga whales aren't violent towards swimmers especially if bred in captivity.
>>
>>55244254
Not all animals are the same m9.

For example, cows and chickens and shit don't know their ass from their elbow, so they go into slaughter houses without a care in the world and just get chopped up and die and don't know what's going on.

Pigs on the other hand, when the day comes for them to go to slaughter, they are anxious and worried, somehow they know. In the truck on the way to the slaughterhouse they scream and try to escape, then when being loaded off the truck they huddle together in the back and just kind of cry. It's really fucked to watch.

So guess tl;dr whales are pretty smart and are different than like a fish kept in an aquarium and have more advanced requirements than like livestock that are bred to be killed since they don't know one way or the other.

>>55244287
sea land?
>>
>>55244343
Yeah I agree.

Whales though, and this is what libtards never take into account, are a flagship animal. Which means they rake in the most dough. Which then goes towards conservation of other lesser known animals.

For example if there's some endangered reef fish that's about to be obliterated by an oil spill that no one knows or gives a fuck about, the money raised from orca shows will go to saving it. SeaWorld is at the top for marine wildlife conservation and rehabilitation which of course is buried by kikes on the news. Still don't know if it's good for the orcas or not, but maybe the ends justify the means, I dunno.

And I hope you're right about the belugas. I guess we'll see. I mean, this happens every day, but not everyone who's that scared of this exact type of situation would do this, which makes me think the whales might react differently.

1. Yeah sure. We keep other animals in captivity and nobody whines about those. I do think there should be strict regulation on these things, make sure the animals are as well cared for as possible etc.

2. Yes they're dangerous as fuck. Good luck swimming with a 10,000 pound, mentally damaged animal with razor sharp teeth faggot. lmao
>>
>>55244440
So fucked. Perhaps one of the few things I'm not full /pol/ack regarding is animals and the environment. I mean sure we should exploit domestic animals for food, but I think the wild animals and areas should be preserves, amirite or?

Caring about the environment isn't entirely the domain of liberals.

I love animals, I prefer animals to people. I'd rather every nigger in Africa drop dead than lose a few species of frog.

Glad to hear it. I feel like the majority of posters here are more logical than not. We mostly hate niggers and jews for the obvious reasons but innocent animals deserve no hate honestly.

Except that I love veal. Tie those little bastards up and keep that thigh nice and tender. Veal parm over zitti? unf

I don't know why they don't at least build like a ten acre salt pond for the whales, aquaculture does stuff like it all the time.

I dont think it was bullshit. those mofos are pretty smart. And who wants to be a slave and live in a bathtub away from your moms, and family all your life. I would e eating trainer mofos left and right myself.
