>Google knows the questions that people wouldn’t dare ask aloud, and it silently offers reams of answers. But it is a mistake to think of a search engine as an oracle for anonymous queries. It isn’t. Not even close.
>In some cases, the most intimate questions a person is asking—about health worries, relationship woes, financial hardship—are the ones that set off a chain reaction that can have troubling consequences both online and offline.
>All this is because being online increasingly means being put into categories based on a socioeconomic portrait of you that’s built over time by advertisers and search engines collecting your data—a portrait that data brokers buy and sell, but that you cannot control or even see. (Not if you’re in the United States, anyway.)
>Consider, for example, a person who googles “need rent money fast” or “can’t pay rent.” Among the search results that Google returns, there may be ads that promise to help provide payday loans—ads designed to circumvent Google’s policies against predatory financial advertising. They’re placed by companies called lead generators, and they work by collecting and distributing personal information about consumers online. So while Google says it bans ads that guarantee foreclosure prevention or promise short-term loans without conveying accurate loan terms, lead generators may direct consumers to a landing page where they’re asked to input sensitive identifiable information. Then, payday lenders buy that information from the lead generators and, in some cases, target those consumers—online, via phone, and by mail—for the very sorts of short-term loans that Google prohibits.

>Those so-called remnants aren’t discarded, though. They are sold and resold and resold again. “What’s created over a period of time is the consumers just become suckers,” Waller said in the FTC workshop.

What kind of pizza is that?

Dudes why cant I cut the middle man (jewgle) and sell my data to these people? What the fuck
>>
>>55239288
yea that pizza isn't working out
>>
Is google going to making that kind of monsterous pizza? Holy shit! I thought their motto was Do no Evil.
>>

Because your data by itself is only worth like $0.03. It's the aggregate that holds the value

>>

Interesting. I wonder if the Internet was created as an intelligence program in the first place.
>>
>>55240020
You can - that's why Facebook and Twitter and Google (etc etc) accounts are free. You're selling your data to them, and they turn around and sell it (en mass) to their customers.

What, you though YOU were Google's customer?

Also,
>*CURRENTYEAR*
>Not using DuckDuckGo
>>
>>55240256
How can you be sure the the duck engine doesn't sell the shit you use?
>>
>>55239288
Always remember, if it's free you are the product not the customer
>>
Google has never advertised itself as an anonymous friendly product. Eric Schmidt has time and time again said that they're keeping data of everything google related. If you want privacy go else where. And complaining about google, on a website(4chan) with google trackers and google analytics scripts is just silly desu senpai
>>
This has relevance to the uk governments so called "snoopers charter". Currently the government pays big data companies such as -------- for aggregate data from Google, Facebook, Apple etc. When you sign the license agreement you are agreeing to this. Currently the NSA/GCHQ pays money for this data.

So now with the snoopers charter in force these companies are forced to hand over all data for free to GCHQ/NSA. Allowing them to cut out the middle man.
>>
>>55240374
Gotta take their word (its in their policy) for it. But it's the central reason why the search engine was created, so giving up their one big "feature" for a couple bucks would completely destroy the company and just doesn't make much sense. Regardless, it's better to take a chance with DDG than to be guaranteed to sell your soul to Google.

The Google CEOs have specifically said that they want to enforce a world where people who have politically incorrect views when it comes to the Zionist oligarchy will have no space to live.

Requesting the video of the interview with Google CEO where he mentions this.
>>
>>55240256
Google and DuckDuckGo are both funded by George Soros.
>>
this shouldn't be news to you t-b-h
>>
So Google are going to use all my shemale pornography and "how to commit suicide" results against me?
>>
>>55239288
This has been known for ages. Basically since Google went live. Why are people suddenly acting like this is news? Did you think that saved cookies weren't automatically doing most of this already? Ads have always been individualized, Googles API does that on its own.

Same applies for Facebook, Twitter etc. All social media website do so. They collect your data, sell your data and cross link and infinite amount of variables. I should know, I work part time in statistical analysis for a Social Media Analytics company. The shit I have access to is hilarious. Entire Excel spreadsheets with hundreds of KPIs per user/page split by so much shit that you go mental.

Any website you access tracks your cursor movements, it tracks you keystrokes (no you dont have to press enter for Google to record the shit you typed), it recognizes your browser based on simple shit like the languages it runs, which in combination with plugin versions, fonts, addons and stuff turns it into a unique fingerprint. So even destroying cooking the second you leave the website, even permitting the page from setting cookies to begin with, even running uBlock and browsing through VPN will not save you from your data being collected. And if that wasnt enough they could probably simply identify you by backtracking your MAC address.

Daily reminder: if you're doing nothing wrong you have nothing to fear.

Stop searching degenerate things and you're safe.

How degenerate are we talking here? I once downloaded Tor and searched for shit in the deep web to see if all the memes where true.

Am I on a spacial list now?

Easy for you to say....
Russia has a government that doesn't care or its too inefficient to even care.

So if I google racist things, how will that be used against me?

I think it's Larry page. I think it was him being interviewed about NSA spying. Basically he says it's his mission in life to root out anti Semitism from human society because his family suffered because of it.

Then he goes on to say that's why he supports constant NSA surveillance.

>degenerate-stomping uncle Putin.

Russia is at its most degenerate conditions under Putin. Just because his state-funded pundits say otherwise on tv doesn't make it so.
>>
>>55240240
No. How the Internet turned out wasn't largely predictable. You're seeing opportunism rather than a planned and directed effort.

It is also the case that as revenue is severely inflated. A combination of botnet clicks and easy money from VCs (thanks, QE infinity) has given personal data the appearance of being more valuable than it actually is.

When the tech bubble bursts, the ad revenue business model will be outed as relatively unsuccessful, and companies will care far less about their users' personal data.

>>55241238

MAC addresses are usually not be sent as part of a request.

So all you need to do is have multiple people use the same IP address/account, or spam irrelevant google searches to "hide" the real ones

At least nine times out of ten when I search info on diseases, it has nothing to do with me.

It's weird to me normalfags unironically search nothing but stuff that is directly connected to them one way or another. Are they not interested in anything else?

Soccer mom's latest searches:
>(the rare name of her son)
>how to know if my son is gay
>my son is gay
>signs of homosexuality in teenagers
>what to do if you think your son is gay
>Bailey Jay
