The problem is that there are people that abuse the system and see doctors for things they otherwise wouldn't bother with. It's why our medicare system is costing so much.

You are so fucking stupid. It's cheaper in the long run to go to the doctor every once in a while because if it's something serious, the costs will be high.

This is why Cuba has "good" healthcare; because everyone has to see the doctor to detect illness before it becomes an issue.

If you don't have an address, they will pay you $200 ("street allowance") a month.

You seem rather upset at the idea of people paying for their own healthcare, if you really want to take care of yourself you should drink a glass of bleach with every meal.

Although it is cheaper in the long term for people to see a doctor regularly there are still poorfags and retards such as yourself that see them too often, that's causing a strain on the system and will eventually ruin it for everyone else. It also causes a rise in tax, although being a neet that probably doesn't bother you too much.

>>
Bait, but I'll bite.

Do you think that doctors and medical equipment costs nothing? Someone has to be paid and equipment is needed to give treatment, and if the government is going to pay for it, the government needs to tax the people in order to get that money back. The people, who might the people be? Oh right, YOU! YOU pay for it! Yes, even Canadians pay for health care, you just don't have any bullshit insurance hoops to jumps through like in the states. If anything, you should be pointing out that you have "hassle-free health care".

On the subject of cost however, the only people that don't pay for health care are people that don't make any money to pay taxes with, like NEETs, old people, students, children, homeless and housewives.

*Terms and conditions apply. Pre-existing conditions will not be covered. Post-existing conditions that can convincingly be argued in a court of law to be pre-existing will not be covered. 65% standard co-pay may be increased to 250% if it seems like you're claiming too much. An interesting analogy, my african-american. It breaks down in two places:

1) If you have a National Shoe Service, which guarantees free shoes, paid through taxation, then it truly is free at the point of delivery. If, on the other hand, you have to go to an in-network shoe store, and then make a co-payment of $250, it really isn't free at the point of delivery.

2) If the shoes are worth $50, but a series of interested parties has inflated that cost to $500 at the point of sale, are they really $500 shoes?

2) If the shoes are worth $50, but a system of government bureaucracy has increased that cost to $500 at the point of sale, are they really $500 shoes?
>>
>>55224617
I see the problem is you continuing to misrepresent and/or misunderstand the difference between free (gratis and for nothing) and free at the point of delivery (without equivocation, co-payment, or impending legal action).

And then you get onto the matter of costs. Seriously? The US spends far more per capita on health than any other OECD nation. I think you'll find that it has more to do with your insurance system than with government bureaucracy.

>>
>>55224165
Fundamentally understood principle? You mean appropriating the word "free" to not really mean free? I think you mean the term.

You use "free" as a euphemism. And "free at the point of delivery" is a euphemism itself. It is a euphemism for "paid by the government after stealing it from individuals".

I'm quite certain, politicians would not be so successful if they had to actually say what they mean. If social policies are such a good idea, why can't they argue the position without resorting to deception?

Well now, it seems I have two choices:

1) 'Free at the point of deivery' which is a euphemism for something I pay for in taxes but then don't have to worry about.

2) 'Not free at the point of delivery' which is not a euphemism for something I pay for in insurance premiums and then do have to worry quite a lot about whether my HMO will actually cover the cost of most* of the treatment I received, or whether I accidentally got a non-covered procedure, or got a covered procedure from an out-of-network provider.

False. The FDA and AMA are the main reason that healthcare costs are so high here. A market of private insurance companies is highly desirable, because competition drives down prices. On the other hand, when the only healthcare insurer happens to be the government, there is no competitive pressure and no incentive to actually bring down costs or improve service. See also the public (i.e. government) school system.

There are only two ways the government can bring down the cost of healthcare. By making it worse (longer wait times, fewer visits, fewer referrals), or by running the entire industry more efficiently than the free market.

I defy you to name one thing apart from national defense that the federal government does more efficiently than the free market. These clowns can't even run a competitive postal service, that's why we have UPS and FEDEX

your hilarious, in thinking free means other people take care of you.
>>
>>55225539

It's common sense dude.

When you buy a drug in the United States, or visit a doctor, think about what you're paying for. The item or service itself, sure. That's the cost of the item/service plus whatever premium they've added to turn a buck. Fine.

Secondly, you are paying the R&D cost of the drug and/or the doctor's salary. Drugs are very expensive to develop from scratch, just as doctors are very expensive to train from high school graduates to professional physicians.

It should be noted that both of these are going to be a factor in final cost no matter where you get your healthcare, or what the payment system is like. It's true in Sweden and America and Brazil and Russia. Nobody works for free, and no pharmaceutical company invents and distributes drugs for free.

However, the third stage in determining cost is where systems begin to deviate. When you buy a drug in America, you are not only paying the cost of the drug (plus premium) and the cost to recoup R&D expenses. On top of this, you also have to reimburse the pharmaceutical company for the expenses which were required to bring that drug to market in the first place. In the United States, where there are extremely tight and rigorous drug regulations, it often costs tens of millions if not billions to put a drug through all the studies and clinical trials required to earn FDA certification. That is a cost borne by the manufacturer, who in turn passes it on to the distributer, who in turn passes it on to the consumer. All this regulation COSTS MONEY to satisfy. All these government bureaucrats who work for the FDA and other regulatory agencies earn salaries WHICH COST MONEY. You are paying for all the red tape that had to be cut in order to bring the drug to market in the first place. That is why the same drug that costs 100 dollars in Mexico (which does not have anything comparable to the FDA) costs 5000 dollars in America. America has the regulations and a bureaucracy that enforces them.
>>
>>55222037
the sad truth is that the earth cannot support itself as it stands, too many niggers/sand-niggers/Mexicans. when we can support ourselves it will be because we have jobs and a proper social security and no welfare faggots to drain it.
>>
>>55226099

QED: In this country we also have what are known as compound drugs. These are drugs which are simply compounds of ingredients which have already been cleared for use by the FDA. These drugs are therefore allowed to be sold without undergoing separate FDA certification. They cost pennies to manufacture and are sold to the consumer for a few dollars per script.

Similarly, with doctors, we have the AMA, which is to physicians what the FDA is to drugs. The reason a doctor's services cost so much is because their salaries are so high; their salaries are so high because the cost to train and certify a physician is outrageous; the cost to train and certify a physician is so outrageous because of all the regulations enforced by the AMA.

It's not rocket science. You don't even need a solid grasp of economics to understand this stuff
>>
>>55222089
So is ours.
>>
>>55226099

I'm not saying any of this is inherently right or wrong. You can have all these regulations and requirements and safety guarantees if you want them, BUT ONLY AT A COST. And that cost is ultimately borne, one way or another, by the end consumer, who pays for it up front or behind the scenes in his taxes.
>>
>>55226099
>It's common sense dude.

heath care cost also don't scale well at all. It's not like car insurance where a company can cover 100 people and maybe 75 of them never make a claim. Odds are at some point, even it's just old age people will rack up some big medical bills.

so for example my other needed a kidney transplant and that like 120k back in the late 90s. Then right before she died she RACKED another 98k in two weeks due to getting blind sided by stage 4 cancer. 200k worth of cost, totally covered by her insurance.

but still. 200k that needs to be needs to be made up some where.. I guess one could argue the real cost at the end was no where near 98k but I doubt it 2k with 96k in padding.
>>
>>55226430

On top of this, you can't say that healthcare (or the lack of access thereto) is what's making us sick. That's begging the question. It's like saying a lack of police are making our streets unsafe. False. The preponderance of criminals is what's making the streets unsafe. Just so, the preponderance of bad dietary and fitness factors is the reason Americas consume so much medicine and require so many doctor visits and hospitalizations.

Not entirely.

The IRS cannot enforce the Individual Shared Responsibility Provision with jail time, liens, or any other of typical methods of collection. The only way for the IRS to collect the fee for not having health insurance, if you choose not to pay it, is for them to withhold the money you would get back from your Federal Income Tax Refund from the IRS after you file your income tax return.

They can only take it out of your refund. If you file in such a way that you don't generate a refund, they can never get it from you.

Either way, the government don't give a fuck, they get the money either way in real terms.

>>
>>55226774

Actually, considering all forms of death, you are one of the lowest. It is only be EXCLUDING fatal injuries (yes, I'm not lying) that you come out on top. Kek

Most of that is because of your rent-seeking healthcare industry which charges $$$ to insurers and families to keep their relatives bodies alive long after they should have died. So you keep mongoloid stroke victims, vegetables etc alive in very expensive nursing homes for years and years

Old people continue to receive expensive and life-extending treatment long after they should have died.

It's not right, Earl,

And yet pharmaprices are much less in Europe than in the USA, so it's not just because of "FDA bureaucracy", in fact, the drug regulation mechanisms are largely the same.

The difference is that all drugs sold and marketed in the US must be specifically FDA approved, while in Europe, each country's regulatory body recognizes each other's decisions. Which means that Europe has a much wider repertoire of marketable drugs, more competition and more generics.

Meanwhile you're stuck to what a single agency's say so and however slow they are.
>>
>>55226893

It isn't garbage. No, if you go to the ER for a sprained wrist, you're not going to be treated inside of an hour. You should just suck it up and go to your doctor.

If you go there for emergency acute care, you WILL be seen immediately and be treated without needing to file for bankruptcy from your hospital bed.

Exactly. The FDA monopoly over drug regulations is something that we have to pay for.

I'm a trust fund kid who just turned 25 and can't be on my surviving parent's income anymore, so I thought I'd apply for Obamacare.

After putting in some basic tax and income information, I found out I qualified for Medicaid, which is medical + dental. Free glasses, free dental visits, $3 BRAND NAME drugs, $1 generics, all the good shit.

$0 premium. NOTHING. And it's all because I don't technically have any income.

Kinda fucking stupid. I don't like that this happened, but not enough to fight the system :^)

We received a duress call from one of our officer's tonight, and as such we were able to test the ambient call feature where we can listen in to the conversation at the area of the incident without any further input from the officer.

On further investigation it appears the operator is able to listen in but the comco work station cannot

Are you able to rectify this issue?

you can easily wait months for a simple test. ive waited months for simple test countless times.
you can wait for over a year for an operation or life changing treatment.
We also have a lot of drug related issue with the nurses. tons of nurses are on speed.

ton of people die every year on the waiting list. My friend's mother died she needed a surgery while waiting. but hey its free at least

The most useful little saying I learned in AP Gov back in high school, there ain't no such thing as a free lunch. Sure something may masquerade as free, but in the end there's somebody that has to pay for it. Fuck free healthcare, fuck free anything, handouts have to be paid for by someone and usually that someone is taxpayers. I don't want to have to pay for a bunch of nignogs and beanbags medical coverage and you shouldn't either

Talking with people from other western countries is fucking surreal sometimes.
What you have in self-awareness you lack in context. Huxley is masturbating furiously in his grave to the current situation in Europe. In the UK especially. It's like you've given birth to an entire generation of Neville Chamberlains.

Americans are simple, but they at least understand that nothing is fucking free and that no one who has your best interests at heart has a desire to disarm you or flood your country with people who are nothing like you and share none of your culture with you.

I don't know about billions, but yes, to get through the clinical phases of FDA approval, it takes time and years and definitely, no room for misinterpretation, millions of dollars.

That's where all these cancer donation funds go to, getting treatments through the clinical trials NOW so that patients with cancer can actually participate in the trials, FOR FREE I might add, despite what everyone thinks about our actual healthcare beyond the bills.

Now, you mentioned drugs, I think THAT conversation AND debate belongs to another can of worms altogether:

If you look closely that's WITH insurance too. Regardless of whether free healthcare is actually free or not, there's no way a person in a country with socialised healthcare would ever have to pay that much.
>>
>>55235357
>“If you have insurance and see a provider statement like this it’s likely because the provider has a contractual agreement with the payer to issue the patient a statement of charges. There’s really not much for patients to do ‒ or worry about ‒ until after the insurance company has settled with the provider and there’s a “balance due” amount to the patient. That bill is very different than this first one which is really just a kind of billing announcement.” Denise Sikora ‒ President DL Health Claim Solutions

It's basically procedure, so that the hospital has all the charges on paper, sends it to the patient on paper, sends it to the insurance on paper, so that everyone is on the same page with the numbers, and then the insurance takes over for the final bill.

I mean, the picture even says "Pending with Insurance"

What if there were no hidden costs? What if you got up front pricing for noninsurable health care, and for emergencies had an insurance company that actually values you as a customer?

Having the government do it all hides everything from the consumer. Terrible idea.

Our current public/private scheme is worse as it only serves to enrich insurance companies now classified as public utilities. Meanwhile cash payers go broke, the uninsured are herded into government programs, and businesses slow hiring due to rising premium costs. This is sinister.

The solution to this government imposed mess, is not and cannot be more government.

>>55241507
Fantasy land is thinking the government can solve all problem. Having a market for healthcare would be no different than having a market for schinken. With insurance for the times you critically need schinken. Grocery stores fighting hand over fist for your business.

That's the big rock candy mountain? Schlaraffenland? To think health care could exist without government?
