You can only buy/listen what you know that exist, and you will only know what is on tv and or radio stations...., this is why /b/ complain about justin bieber everytime and make death threats and etc.. instead of spending their times to research for stuff that will clean their ears of the justin bieber stuff they hate.
big labels knows this, and so they know they can easily make anyone (almost, excluding few specific sub-genres, like harsh noise [ALLERT!!! loud noises]),
so they can ask those extreme % of the sales like 75% and if people complain before making the contract, they can just say fuck you and call the next guy.
So you have 25% of 10 dollars (2.5 dollars per cd).
