Robin Hood took from the rich and gave to the poor. Thus reverse Robin Hood would be from poor to the rich. This is exactly what happens with Tax Loopholes, buying off politicians, subsidies, etc.

Holy shit. You don't think that these people earned their money, and have the right to do whatever they want with it?
If you're going to take money away from the rich, then what's the point of climbing the economic ladder? There is none. It takes away incentive.

All of you authoritarian Socialist fuckers can drown in your self pity. I'll be comfortable with my 60K a year while you're crying "MUH BENEFITZ; GIBS ME DAT FREE STAFF"

>>
>>55206818
The problem is the super rich in this country don't do so because of a free market, but rather government subsidies and other federal and state policies. It's literally cronyism. We have a class of oligarchs as bad as Russia. The only difference is that we have a bigger economy and better access to trade and stuff due to a strong currency propped up on the shoulders of a global sphere of influence enforced by our military.
>>

Socialism isn't the answer.

The rich will protect themselves, and the middle class will be robbed blind by the perma-welfares.

If you want a more equal income distribution, abolish the federal reserve, severely curtail immigration to the US, and stop flooding the labor market with college degrees.

Bigger government is never the answer, it only exacerbates the problem.

Nope I'm a U.S. citizen who grew up in the UK. My family tried to start a failing business there and borrowed money from bad people and got in deep shit. We abandoned everything and moved back to the U.S. to live in poverty. My parents tried to start their business again, did badly because they're idiots and we all suffered. They abused the untarnished records of my brother and I to commit loan and check fraud and destroyed our credit. We had to work shitty part time jobs and give up every penny to help my parents pay bills.

Fast forward and we got away from it. I rented a cheap apartment with my brother using minimum wage retail jobs. Went to community college and earned an AA with borrowed money. Transferred to a 4-year and borrowed more, but also worked full time to minimize debt. Graduated with an industry relevant degree but couldn't find a good job in a small college town. So I moved somewhere else with jobs available and found one. I gained experience and certifications in my field and have changed to better, and more challenging jobs with higher pay. I make good money and my student loans are manageable.

So nope, no silver spoon here. And some old friends on facebook are bitching and moaning about this 1% bullshit while still working in that shitty minimum wage retail establishment in their home town that I used briefly for income while in college.

>implying those taxes would have gone to the public instead

>>55205617
Let us rephrase this in more positive terms.
Less than 15% of the population is in poverty.
25% are working poor.
40% are in the middle class with enough money to sustain themselves and advance their children's futures.
20% are wealthy and have few concerns about money.
1% have achieved so much they are in a class all their own. They own the businesses and land that employee and support the other 99%.
Looks pretty comfy to me. 10% of the "rich" should be upper middle class, which leaves only 10% truly rich individuals.
>>

Well, in these scenarios you say that everyone HAS to put in $20, but what if they don't have that to start with? What's the benefit of putting in the money (let's just say that it's so they don't go to jail). So if the guy only has $10 on him, in the first scenario he is able to put the money in. In the second scenario he is penalized.

How long does it take between giving the $20 and getting the $15 back? Is there anything better that person could have done with his $15 in the mean time? Is he missing out on some sort of opportunity because he put all his money into the box but hasn't gotten his refund yet?

Wealth distribution would only work if we made people of certain income levels have a lot of children. Poor people are usually poor because they are bad with money. This is the reason why black athletes end up broke shortly after their career is over. If people with net worth a over x millions of dollars were forced to have +10 kids, the money would eventually start spreading out.

Of course. The median wage of *WORKING* Americans (That means no children/minors, retirees, NEET) is only $28,000/year.
It's gotten so bad for the typical American that the mainstream media had to resort to using Average wage stats ($55,000/year), which is completely skewed by the top .01% making record-shattering profits.

According to official government stats, the average wage in this country is actually the 80+ percentile of income.

Also, if you go to Sowell's wikipedia page, it will tell you he believes in free-market economics. Do you still not understand that the "free market" that everyone heralds is a complete myth? There is no such thing as a free market.

>I prefer thomas sowell over some anon on 4chan

understandable sentiment, I'm not Sowell. However, you have to understand that all his accolades, all his merits are based on his deep inspection of one school of thought. He's much more prone to be myopic, and so are you, if you simply listen and do nothing else. Economics isn't a hard science, it's a political argument, and has been since it was first thought up as a discipline. Different models have worked well in different circumstances, because there is no "magic free market formula" for economics. Some schools can explain certain things better than others, but you really have to stop this black-and-white interpretation of economics.

People always gloss over the fact that the 1% earned that wealth fair and square though. They're all successful business owners and entrepreneurs. By what right does anyone have to take it? It's not as if the 1% is eternally static. Notch (creator of Minecraft) was a regular wageslave in 2008 and one of the richest people in the world in 2015. The idea that there is a defined set of people in the 1% that never changes and they're deliberately screwing you is myth. The top 1 percent earns about 24% of the nation's income and pays about 25% of our countries taxes. This trend is repeated in the other income brackets in the US. Taxing them more will not fix anything, we have to stop thinking of our society and gov't as separate entities if we are going to make genuine progress in liberty and equality, such as a more manageable healthcare system, or a more stable infrastructure system (ex. roads and highways). We should deal with these issues in an egalitarian and civil manner.

Probably because we live in socialist states where the government taxes the wealthy to obscene degrees to fund dindus and NEETs and we know how much it sucks? Capitalism is a meritocracy, you can obtain wealth by producing something of value to society. The US is the closest to the capitalist ideal and creates more millionaires than any other country because it's easy as hell to obtain capital and build a business from scratch, at least compared to Australia and other high tax socialist states where start ups are far and few between just because of the costs of getting them off the ground and people being incredibly risk averse.

Simply put in Capitalism if you want wealth you need to get off your ass and build it yourself. 90% of people are happy to be employed to someone else, draw a wage and have certainty. Thats fine, but you don't get to complain when you're earning 40k a year and a person who took a 2nd mortgage to fund a risky business venture a few yeas back is earning +1 million now.

incorrect, it just makes taxing entities immoral

governance is not predicated by taxation, just statism

>Productivity has nearly doubled in the past 30yrs
I can assure you that is not because burger flippers have gotten better at their jobs. It's because of computerization, and more recently, automation. Who deserves the biggest slice of the pie for implementing the things that make a business more efficient? Management and owners. It's not really hard to understand and graphs like that are only designed to trigger primal envy and the thought that "Someone is getting more than me! Unfair!"

governments need funds to function. In order to get funds, they need to tax their citizens.

A capable CEO is much rarer, and of much more value, than someone who does a job that will probably be fulfilled by a robot in a few years time. McDonalds have started experimenting with this to phase out burger-flippers, for a start.

This retarded brutalistic rhetoric from "muh equality/1%-ers" doesn't achieve much more than to downplay the extreme amount of work that goes into being a CEO.

We all know where your notions of 'fair shares' leads.

Thats how economics work. Of course the American government favors the wealthy, it helps boom their economy which in terms keeps the country a powerhouse on a global scale.

If you want to become one that is favored, make a lot of money doing anything (legal) necessary.

If not then just sit on your ass hoping for the minimum wage to be raised because "need more money the top 10% has to much!"

go ahead and vote Bernie Sanders come election you cultural Marxist.

It's not really about your right not to work. It's about your parents right to give the wealth they've accumulated to their children, which everyone supports. You might be a scumfuck but your parents were obviously intelligent people who leveraged what they had to create something better. You're just the beneficiary of that and I couldn't care less whether entitled brats become millionaires because of their inheritance because the right to give your children a lifetime of accumulated wealth is good for everyone from rich to poor.

Yes, I understand the value of their work, but is it 380 fucking times that of the average worker? Are their skills that valuable and exclusive? Or is it more likely that they just want more money and get more money?

No, I do not.

Management isn't hard and it's not necessary to a company's survival, contrary to popular belief.
Companies fail when management overtakes the decisions of their engineers/scientists (Higher intelligent people who are paid less). Think of HP, ford, motorola, AMD, and countless other companies.

The funny thing is that the companies that bounce back from unprofitability all cut down on management and gave their engineers and scientists complete control of which products to sell. Ford is a big one after their most recent bankruptcy. AMD also fired almost all their management and gave their engineers complete control over the Zen architecture for 2016.

Again, management isn't necessary and often kills companies.
