People don't really understand what the Debt really means. If we paid off the debt there would be zero capital in the united states. It would destroy every dollar bill in circulation like matter and antimatter. I don't believe its supposed to ever be paid off. We can only kick the can down the road till the system breaks.

We need a new constitutional amendment. The reason we have Debt Ceiling problems is because the Executive Branch has no power to borrow money on its own. Even though it is the one that does the borrowing.
So every time Congress tells the Executive Branch to spend money. There is no implied and some times no implicit power to borrow money to cover the spending. Other countries do have implied power to borrow with all spending bills.

Paying off the debt literally means no more dollars. It can't be done without crashing everything. It's a reiteration of how banks always fund both sides of a conflict so they can win regardless of the victor, and then win again when they fund the recreation of everything they just destroyed (on their own terms of course, no money for you if you don't do what we say you nigger slaves, and don't forget the 6 bazillion of us you killed, that debt will never end, not even a century of your blood will will fill it.)
