Bernie supporters tend to be educated, so value educated. Trump supporters tend to be dumb fucks who didn't get much educated, so they just value a fence with Mexico. And no one cares much about national debt -- all nations have way more debt than they can afford to pay off. These national debts will never get paid -- it's a nominal amount and not a real debt.

thats a good question. i would bet it is because obama claimed to have cut the DEFICIT in half over his term, and leftists tend to use the terms deficit and national debt interchangably. a large portion of these folks probably think obama cut our debt in half, not the annual amount of new debt added to the total.
the better informed ones probably like increasing the national debt because it is a collective debt we are all responsible for, despite only a tiny fraction of us receiving benefits from the things it was spent on.
