For the same reason trump got the highest poll ratings for both republican debates, yet all the heavy republican websites/polls said candidates like Cruz, Fiorina, or Rubio did the best.
Sanders poses a threat to the establishment. Should he be elected president, his policies would stand against what the Democratic party wants in the white house.
So, instead of admitting someone they don't like did the best at the debate, they would rather overhype a candidate who they know supports the establishment, in an attempt to convert bernie supports to Clinton.

People don't know what "winning" a debate is. The "winner" isn't who you agreed with most, it's who argued their points the best and appeared most competent. Most of Sanders fans are on the internet (similar to Ron Paul in 2008 and 2012) and they vote that he "won" simply because they like him the best.
