I love drinking as much as the next guy and would burn down DC if they banned it again, but America in the early 1900's had a pretty serious drinking problem which needed to be addressed. Prohibition was childish and out of touch with reality (not unlike women) but if you take the time period into account it makes sense that that'd be how women would use their newly-acquired votes.
