The studies these articles use as their source include all firearms related crimes that occur on or near school property regardless of hour or even if the school is still in operation as a school shooting. Tends to lump in a very large amount of inter-city gang violence and the occasional suicide and guy shooting squirrels with a pellet gun.
Yet again a case where if you remove the gang violence it turns into a statistically tiny amount of crime, something where more children probably get smashed by vending machines and televisions each year.
