It was found out (by me) after a /gamer-gate/ mod abused his powers, that global and regular mods were tracking and keeping "little notes" on IP addresses.
I stirred shit on /pol/ and Fred made an appearance.
His first response was to pretend like he never knew it was going on, and that it was a "bug" and he thanked me for bringing it to his attention. Then he admitted to knowing about it since the very beginning, and we should all have known it too since the site was hosted using "tinyboard" or whatever it's called.
THEN he took away the note privledge for regular modes. THEN he took it away for global mods. THEN he booted the gamergate mod and replaced them with the original gamergate mod.
He did all this after we found out just how much of little liar he was, he was trying to damage control.

I've been around when Moot would fuck with boards because he got bored and when shitposting and spam was a given.

Yep, after like a week or so with /pol/ harbor, the quality did start going back up. Shills and spammers are more visible than ever with IDs but seems the new mods have given us a good ID solution (thread based or something.)

Every other chan tries too hard with adding new features like gifs that are loaded and running automatically and embedded Youtube videos that are automatically expanded. It makes the site ugly as fuck. Then there's the lack of users.
