MOSCOW — Security officials in Russia said gunmen traveling in three cars attacked a traffic police checkpoint after midnight Thursday in the capital of the restive North Caucasus republic of Chechnya.
Although unrest is common in Russia's North Caucasus, forceful security measures adopted by iron-fisted Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov have spared the city of Grozny of significant violence for several years.
The Moscow-based National Anti-terrorist Committee said in a statement that after the attack on the traffic police, gunmen occupied a publishing house in the center of Grozny. It said security services, police and emergency services personnel surrounded the building.
State news agency RIA-Novosti cited law enforcement sources as saying three traffic police officers were killed in the original attack. Authorities said a number of law enforcement officers had been killed, but did not specify how many.
Life News, a news outlet believed to have links to Russian security services, cited law enforcement officials as saying about 15 people seized three cars late Wednesday in the village of Shalazhi and drove them to Grozny.
The National Anti-terrorist Committee said in its statement that a counterterrorism regime has been imposed on the center of Grozny. That officially allows heightened security measures to be enacted and the announcement typically indicates the imminent use of heavy force to quash unrest.
Multiple unconfirmed amateur pictures posted online appeared to show the publishing house occupied by the gunmen in flames.

As you all know, cultural marxisms goal is to create as much confusion and disorder as possible in order to create societies unable to see right from wrong, or necessity from want. Confusion and deception is their primary weapons.
The poster I'm replying to wrote his message in such a way that he means to imply that someone who ''believes in Russian propaganda'', would also advocate for voices claiming that ISIS ''is innocent''.
Now this is a very clever tactic, since the people actually controlling (and that created them in the first place) ISIS, is the U.S and Israel. By claiming that someone who is a ''russian shill'' would also ''support ISIS'', what does this guy create? That's right: Confusion.
It doesn't make any sense (what he wrote), but it achieves intended result: confusion, disorder. People read his post and lose their grip of what other people think.
