While there is an active liberal lobby to remove gun rights from the individual in America, I don't think it's going to actually come to pass. I don't even comprehend a lot of times that this is a fairly unique freedom in the western world. Sometimes this country can disappoint me and other times I can literally feel my freedom boner protruding down my leg.
My uninformed opinion is that guns have been an integral part of America since the Wild West days. For defense, hunting, etc. This cultural aspect remained over the years. The 2nd Amendment has helped preserve this aspect of culture by making it a right.
