I think its more important to abstain as much as possible until your brain is fully developed, I believe your brain keeps growing and physically folding until your mid 20s, My understanding is that daily use before full development can make your brain develop in a way where it sees cannabis as normal and even if you stop after 25 you can't really function normally without it. By fully developed I mean age 25, not the day of your 16th or 18th or 21st birthday.
After 25, go nuts, damage is already done or theres no damage to do. I find those who smoked daily for years can't function normally without out.
I see where your coming from but I think it's the wrong approach to identify an amount as safe. I'd rather smoke heavily 3 times a month over a 2 day period than smoke a joint or two every day.
I quit age 21, for the reasons above. Im 26 now and very glad that I did.
