Seek a book of origami teselations and put it in the design of your dragon. What kind of scale? I really would like to know. In Origami design secrets i found scales but they are turtle scales....

Also fish scales (for the koi) in the same chapter. Those can be used for dragons, I guess.

carp scales would work pretty well for an asian dragon. I'd use those
