Any good sites / books / models you would recommend ?
Bonus points for abstract models.

This is all I have on modular origami. Hope you find something good among the not so large variety in my modular folder.

Unit Origami by Tomoko Fusè

Wow, this menger sponge is quite some work. It's based on a variation of the Sonobe unit - not much harder to fold than the basic unit, but it takes considerably more time because more steps are involved. They also don't hold together too well, so assembling can turn become a pain in the ass if you don't use glue. And, well, just take a look at the number of units used.

1056 units... I have one that I built in the late '90s that has held up pretty well, all things considered. No glue and no fancy assembly. Just 1056 regular sonobe units.

Nice. I've started a level 2 sponge couple times, but always gave up after a while. Takes some dedication to finish such a project.

I was working a tech support job at the time. I was tied to a desk with a short leash... er.. phone cord for several hours a day. Took me about three months, as I recall.

Been working on this there the last week. I'd love to make more of them, but the first one took days to fold and assemble.
