Love it so far but get those 50MP to use, do some crop shit or something, I'm jelly af man, nice buy
>more photos that /p/ won't like
I for once certainly never have a problem with people making photo threads. And I welcome you posting photos that are interesting and well made regardless of whether I get the concept of what you're trying to do or whether I even like them, so don't stop posting.
That said, I've been following your mantises and manufactured landscape stuff or whatever you call it, and I can't say I really know what you're trying to express with these photos. They're pretty neat though, and out of these I really like the OP photo with the moon and stars and the mantis one.
I would ask for your money back to be honest
Just a resolution comparison for giggles

try flipping through them as group on my website if you're interested, it helps. Also my terrible terrible text that goes with some of them

Wow, way to ante up.
Do you use the standard 100 Macro, or the L?
And do you use a lense profile in camera or in post?
And if not do you find there's much latetral CA in the files?
I've started to realise the standard 100M has a bit of CA in the corners of my rabal sensor when scanning, but the rabal doesn't do lense profiles, and adding the profile in DPP takes literally about a minute per file.
It really is quite minor, so I don't bother correcting it, but it would be great to have some feedback about how it is on high MP full frame.

>>2849681
that'll happen with 15+ second exposures.
He really should've taken 10 seconds to photoshop away the hot pixels though. They're not hard to spot or healing brush away.

Also using a 5DS outside of a well lit studio is just retarded.
Not to mention dropping all that dollah on the 5DS only to produce the same blurry shitty photos a plastic Rebel does with a kit lens... are you sure you're not Sugar?

It's nice for landscapes too man

built-in dark field processing FTW

Is the 5ds better than the 5diii?
>>2849918
For what?
>>2849851
Well it looks like about 20 or so in that small crop, unless they happen to be bright orange pinpoint specular highlights.
That seems very unlikely unless it was lit with an orange gelled flash.
So at that rate, that would probably be a few hundred hotspots over the entire frame.
Which also seems quite strange, unless the sensor is about to shit the bed.
Which would suck a lot for NatureBro.
Either way, I'd be double checking and sending the cam back.

>Do you use the standard 100 Macro, or the L?
I use the L now, switched a year and a half ago.
>And do you use a lens profile in camera or in post?
I generally don't use profiles but if I do I'll use it in post.
>And if not do you find there's much lateral CA in the files?
None that I've ever noticed. If you want I can shoot a quick pixel peeper for you, if so what would be useful?

Buy this man a drink. He figured it out. Here's the 'hot spots' suffering motion blur while I was playing with the mirror timer feature. If you're wondering it's picking up the orange street lamp 50' behind me which honestly is really quite delightful that they showed up.

What exactly is this? Pretty cool photo when it makes you wonder what it is.

I made a bunch of shapes from plaster to work with. This one is a hemisphere from the top. The background and foreground are sheets of black acrylic with dust from the hemisphere. Originally I was going to use the curved as a background for >>2849604 but both shapes ended up working well enough on their own.

Off topic of the thread, but is this the same NatureGuy that I remember from 4 or 5 years ago?

Thanks for the response re: lenses.
I think the only way my first high MP body is going to be a Canon is if I win one in a competition, so it doesn't really matter.
Sony all the way. If I actually used digital it would be a different story, but it will just sit at home and scan film, and occasionally come out when I want to play with adapted lenses.
I'll probably swith scanning lenses as well, to the Pentax M 50/4, because it seems to have no CA or distortion at all.
>>2849958
Oh, how is the motorised mirror anyway? Does it feel eerily smooth?
Do you still need to do Live view / EFC when shooting ambient light macro anyway, thus rendering it pointless?
>>2850281
Why not just get a dedicated film scanner? If you shoot film almost exclusively it makes way more sense. You could also just skip scanning altogether and make prints in a darkroom. Sure digital printing has gotten fantastic but if you're going to shoot film you might as well do the darkroom as well. Plebs eat that shit up when you're selling stuff and there is a certain amount of satisfaction to it.
>>2850284
The mirror is smoother and markedly quieter. The silence of it was the first thing I noticed when taking a picture and I haven't even tried the 'silent modes' yet.
>Do you still need to do Live view / EFC when shooting ambient light macro anyway, thus rendering it pointless?
I never use live view so I have no idea. I dislike shooting from a screen and ruins part of what I enjoy about photographing.
