Hey I am still a little new to photography and I was wondering what the etiquette was for taking pictures of strangers. Do I ask them if it is ok? What if I want to get a picture of them acting naturally not posing?

99% of the time I take pictures w/o asking. It's legal so idc. Sometimes I find a particular person interesting and ask if I can take a few shots. If confronted just say its for a project. If they ask me to delete it politely, I most likely will. If they're rude about it, I tell them to call the police if they want.

You can legally take pictures in public as much as you want. Though I'd advise against getting up in someone's face.

Think, just what's the worst case scenario? Someone gives you a bad look? Tells you to stop? Like this Anon said >>2842523 just say it's for a project and delete if they ask you too

Not in Germany you can't. Although I found lately I need more dynamic range than before when taking pictures of people anyway. Considering switching to film.
