The only critiques for your photos i'll give you are: don't place things on the ground like rocks on top of a leaf or a watch to photograph - photograph natural things and never ever use that disgusting dof at 1.8 unless you're doing a desperate low light portrait or the background is so horrible or distracting that it cannot even have attention drawn away from it in post. Bokeh is extremely over rated. The real critique i'll give you is don't listen to these assholes because if they were any good themselves they either wouldn't say anything or give you decent, constructive criticism. If you shot these in RAW format, it should be relatively simple to fix it in many kinds of photo processing software. Works on jpeg too, but RAW gives you so much more information.

Will do. It was sent from Sigma so hopefully I'll have it for a few months. That was a SOOC jpeg, only adjustment was resizing. It's incredibly sharp at 1:1, and the colors (usually) are amazing. Haven't had a chance to take it out, but will today.

That camera won't do you any good at anything above ISO 100. I mean, ISO 200 and 400 are alright, but when you shoot with a Merrill you're not in the mood for "adequate", it's just that those cameras are suited to only one extreme of the "spectrum" and anything past that it's a compromise that will leave you a sour taste.
Oh, except for BW. BW is great on those cameras even at ISO 3200, just use the blue channel trick.

Dark blacks like that are a bit of a challenge. At least bump it a bit so you can see his eye better. Also, it's a bit blurry and droppings are visible... it's not a horrible photo, but nothing special either.
It's probably just my autism taking over, but I also never take pics of animals in an urban setting or on man made objects. Not into that at all.

Hey, /p/. I just graduated high school and legit had a nice time while attending. Needless to say I took a lot of photos there. Mainly a lot of social snappies with flash. Would anyone give a shit about them if I posted them as a series? Could it work? One of my friends from abroad said "who are you making it for, if not for yourself?" Which kind of made me think about if I really wanted to do it. I mean, there's nothing to lose. I'm just interested in if you think this could make a nice set of images that might be of interest both to me and to others who don't know these people.

~90% I'm shooting with a 7D (the old one, a gift from a generous family friend) and a 16-35mm f 2.8 USM II, which I spent forever saving up for as a college student.
I'll make a thread to share some of my stuff later tonight. I'll link to it in here and consider putting some full-res shots in there.
My camera is about at the end of its life so the sensor is kind of wonky. Luckily my lens is crispy for an ultra-wide. I also do film but it's too expensive most of the time.
Some from the last couple of weeks, all shot on a Yashica Electro 35 GTN with Kodak Portra 160. First time ever using Portra and I think it's the fourth roll of film I've used with this camera now...

First it looks like it had some heavy clarity/large radius USM which is probably the culprit and combine that with the sickly sky. Looks like a slight color shift + desaturation. Not sure how I'd edit it, probably tone down the saturation a little but there are others who probably know what to do.
