How long till Canikon go mirrorless seriously and make everyone who sold their Canikon gear to buy inferior products feel like a bunch of assholes?

But Canikon has mirrorless cameras.
>>
>>2837975

How long till any Canon ILC finally has at least dynamic range of recent cameras with 1" sensor?

How long till Nikanon start using Dual IS in their objectives and cameras?

How long till Nikon stops mangling RAW files to make them unacceptable for astrographers?

How long till Canon stops drifting EF specs so that older objectives do not stop working with newer cameras?

How long till Nikanon use/make at least one APS-C or larger sensor with full readout?

How long till Nikon finally has lightweight pancake objective with autofocus?

How long till Nikon finally starts making oficially weather sealed objectives?

Bring your crap to gear thread fag.

>How long till Nikon finally starts making oficially weather sealed objectives?
This is a good question. My D7100 is "weather-resistant" but Nikon never bothered to clarify (or rather, purposefully avoided clarifying) just what extent of resistance there is.

>How long till Canon stops drifting EF specs so that older objectives do not stop working with newer cameras?
Who needs your shitty 28mm Sigma?

Because everything else does not matter, right?

One generation, maybe two. The tech is almost there for pro cameras.

It doesn't matter, though. Build the cameras for existing lenses and they'll be the same size as ever, and both of them have already tried mirrorless lineups and proven that they don't really "get it."

Sony has a multi-year head start on a FF mirrorless system, and they're still well behind Canon and Nikon DSLRs in terms of everything except raw sensor performance. Canon and Nikon will either end up with something externally identical to current DSLRs, or end up in an A7 situation where the lenses are way too big for the body and most require adapters.
>>
Nikon could do mirrorless seriously and not get any flak.
Canon could not do mirrorless seriously without getting flak.
The EOS M has been a failure. The 1st camera was a failure and only became popular when it hit clearance aisles. M2 was Asia only and was frankly just the same old shit.
The M3 was their chance to be taken seriously with an APS-C sensor, but they half assed it, didn't bring enough new lenses with them and let it fall by the wayside
M10. Just a repackaged M/M2. Completely worthless.No new lenses.

Canon finally gave M users a new lens, a 28mm f3.5 MACRO lens, but it has a gimmick. They need to double down on primes and release another enthusiast body like the M3 again.
>FF Mirrorless
Canon could do this and still release an adapter to keep EF fags happy with a short flange distance, but they probably won't.

Their best best is to release another enthusiast body at the same time as a FF mirrorless body and new adapter/lenses. Canon have been stuck doing the same shit since the 90's though, so this will never happen.
>>
>>2837975
Jokes on you. I use all my canon glass on my sony. And it even focuses faster on the sony than it does on any canon body.

They got too comfortable. When sony comes out with their new a7 series or the new a9 series, it's going to be too late. Canon and Nikon don't take risks, and sony does.

I know you guys will shit all over sony for some of their cameras flaws, like overheating on the a6300 4k. But fuck, at least they put it out. What do you think Canon would have done if their camera overheated? They wouldn't even have released it, which is probably why they don't have an affordable camera that can do 4k. Not to mention, both Nikon and Canon just put out useless updates to their camera line. The D800 was a fantastic camera, ahead of it's time. Then what do they follow it up with? A rebadged D800e. Same shit with canon and their 5dMKiii. But look at sony, their flagship camera the a7r, was a good camera when it came out. And just a year and a half later, they up the resolution from 36 to 42, add 4k shooting, and add the inbody stabilizer. 3 huge improvements.

Meanwhile, Canon and Nikon are losing sales to Sony.

kraut please.
OIS is superior anyway although k-1 pixel shift is nice.

>How long till Nikon stops mangling RAW files to make them unacceptable for astrographers?
not as bad as suny.

>How long till Canon stops drifting EF specs so that older objectives do not stop working with newer cameras?
ef is here to stay.
even if ef-m takes off it is compatible with an adapter.

>How long till Nikanon use/make at least one APS-C or larger sensor with full readout?
buy our c100 pleb.

>How long till Nikon finally has lightweight pancake objective with autofocus?
pancakes on a fat dslr looks dumb.

>How long till Nikon finally starts making oficially weather sealed objectives?
just use tampon.

what the hell are you smoking?
the ef adapter was available on day 1.
>>
>>2838616
>Nikon could do mirrorless seriously and not get any flak.
But Nikon 1 has no lens. There's the 70-300, a couple primes, and a bunch of shitty small aperture zooms that don't help with babby sensor syndrome. The only redeeming feature is the frankly insane autofocus the 1 V3 has. Maybe the real fast sensor readout capabilities too.

>pancakes on a fat dslr looks dumb.
I guess Pentax is dumb too then. Pancakes are based, no matter what system or body.

>OIS is superior anyway although k-1 pixel shift is nice.
And dual IS is even better than just OIS.
>>
>>2838653
Not the same shit that you're smoking s e n p a i. Pass that shit over will ya?
The EF adapter may have been available but the EOS M, M2 and M3 are subpar attempts at capturing the mirrorless market. Try and make it through the full post before replying or setting aside your brand loyalty.
Nothing is stopping Canon from having two mirrorless mounts. There's EF and EF-S after all.
>>2838657
Exactly. No-one at all cares about the Nikon 1. No-one but gearfags and soccer moms are aware of it's existence.
>>
>>2838669
nice damage control there.
not even gonna read it.

I once met a guy who was shooting an auto race professionally (at least professionally enough to have a photo vest and be on the press side of the fence) with a Nikon 1 and a 70-200. He said it worked incredibly well as a 500/4 analogue as long as he didn't have to crank the ISO up too high.

I thought that was a really ingenious use, actually, and it made for an incredibly light kit compared to the two pro bodies and a supertele I was schlepping around. (He still had a D3 body and smaller FX lenses for non-supertele use, by the way.)

>>2838661
Talking about pancakes, I have one on nikon, 50mm 1.8 series E manual pancake lens and its very sharp and solid
>>
>>2839495
I have one too. Sadly it has a scratch that produces a dot in the bokeh balls wide open :(

I checked out side-by-side comparison on DpReview: seems to be true actually.

Welp, another decade for matching six year old APS-C camera then?

>OIS is superior anyway

Yeah, like dynamic range - just fine for most applications but competitors offer better stabilisation.

>not as bad as suny.

Sony A cameras already have uncompressed RAW support. It took them few years to do this, Nikon does it for a decade already and does not offer alternative.

>buy our c100 pleb.

Mark II exposes moire too, that means no full readout.

nb4 by Canon $30000 1080P specialised camera.

>pancakes on a fat dslr looks dumb.

Do you imply that users of pancake objectives (which exist for decades already) care?

>just use tampon.

Does not make a single objective for Nikon 1. Remember, OP is talking about MILC.
