Both. The object is more or less unedited, its a large barrel drum of some kind from an oil rig (presumably, given the location), all I've photoshopped from the object itself is a pipe/stem on the side.
The landscape around the object is a mirror composite to copy the geometry of the seascape to replace the dunes/grass on the left
