Dell 5520 with AMD Hybrid video card and external display for photo processing.
i5, 16Gb Ram, Windows 7, about to "upgrade" to 10 because work related reasons.
I use Lightroom, Photoshop, Darktable 2 and Rawtherapee for dicking around, and of course NIK collection.
I have no complaints for processing speed.

The upgraded 3K screen is a weird resolution, but very nice. IPS, good viewing angles, etc.

ancient 24" dell IPS that I need to replace

Thinkpad W510 with a small wacom intuos tablet.
I never got around to upgrading the screen and have a really hard time grading now. I moved abroad and needed a decently powerful cheap laptop to replace the desktop I was using before.
It works fine but I have a feeling the FHD panel if I was to fit it would make little difference to colour accuracy
Custom built and I use Lightroom/Photoshop.
I use a gaming PC at home which does well but I've got a Macbook from 2006 which I only use when I travel for non work stuff which I just use to store incase the SD card dies on the vacation or something.
Been looking into getting a new 2 in 1 laptop - I like the detachable models like the Surfacebook because I've wanted a decent tablet for general use around the house/travel and at the same time showing off pictures is a lot easier with a tablet.
I like the Surfacebook a lot but it's about an inch larger than I'd like and more than I really need for my purpose, so been looking into a ThinkPad Helix or Dell Venue Pro 11.

About how much did this run you m8? Peripherals (monitor, mouse, keyboard) not included
>>2801567
So it is the /g/ equivalent of a Leica. Except being cheap and trashy.
>>2801636
No the thinkpads that /g/ lust over are like 7D mk1s
>>2801635
Just the PC itself...
i7 was like 300
Mobo was around 175
GPU was 650
PSU was 60
RAM was 100ish
CPU cooler was 100
Bout 150ish in SSDs
50ish in HDD
Then peripherals..
LG Ultrawide was like 700ish
Dell was from an old PC
But it wasn't all built at once. I've been building for a long time and just upgrading/selling old stuff on Ebay as I go.
>>2801652
and my case was like 125 I think.

I need to get a photo-worthy monitor, my IPS one died so all I have is my gaymen 144hz TN, which sucks for photo editing. I'm curious to see if the new ASUS 27" 144hz IPS can be calibrated well enough for my purposes.

Do you really need such powerful pc ?
Can a $600 laptop be enough for basic lightroom ?
>>2801808
It'll do it, but it goes slow. Especially with large file sizes. For people who are dealing with a large amount of photos, that time becomes a big hassle.
>>2801808
Yes definitely. Most people posting here probably come from /g/ and dabble in photography. A good GPU helps hugely but if you're just doing touch ups in PS or applying bulk filters in LR than pretty much any new laptop will work fine.
Try get a good screen though

Runs things alright, lightroom is a bit slow though. I feel like I need to generate previews to browse the library smoothly, not sure if that's due to my low-ish specs or if that's a normal lightroom though
>>2802145
*normal lightroom thing
>>2802145
Lightroom is quite sluggish at browsing, try Darktable or Rawtherapee, both are fast during browsing. I don't know what Adobe did, maybe it was programmed in Flash.

OS - Windows 10

Photoshop CS5
>>2802152
Darktable is trash on Windows though. It's pretty clear that the developers are freetards and actively build it in a way that prevents it from being useful on Windows.
>>2802155
There is an unofficial Windows build. Is just as stable as the Linux version.
check it here: http://www.partha.com/
>>2802157
Yeah I've used it, but it lacks integration into Windows, that makes it annoying.
I mostly use Lightroom and Premiere for videos.
>>2801667
Are you using a chromebook? How's that working for you?
>>2802163
The wavelet noise reduction is much-much nicer than Lightrooms noise reduction algorithm.

I won't. You clearly have more serious problems.
