Photo enthusiasts all over the world use the Nik Collection to get the best out of their images every day. As we continue to focus our long-term investments in building incredible photo editing tools for mobile, including Google Photos and Snapseed, we’ve decided to make the Nik Collection desktop suite available for free, so that now anyone can use it.

The Nik Collection is comprised of seven desktop plug-ins that provide a powerful range of photo editing capabilities -- from filter applications that improve color correction, to retouching and creative effects, to image sharpening that brings out all the hidden details, to the ability to make adjustments to the color and tonality of images.

Starting March 24, 2016, the latest Nik Collection will be freely available to download: Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, Viveza, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro and Dfine. If you purchased the Nik Collection in 2016, you will receive a full refund, which we’ll automatically issue back to you in the coming days.

We’re excited to bring the powerful photo editing tools once only used by professionals to even more people now.

I've never really even heard of these but I tried the Color one and I liked the results on the few I tried. I think this was "Tonal Contrast". I guess I could have done this shit in Lightroom but I've never learned how outta laziness.

It makes the photo much more punchy - which is something I've felt I've never really had from my pictures.

I guess it's just a big pop in contrast but whatever.

Way to bury the lede.
>>

And to all the people that paid for it, fuck you and thanks for the loot
>>
>>2800665
How do the sharpener and noise reduction tools compare to native Lightroom settings? Felt like Lightroom already did a pretty good job once you get the sliders right.
>>
>using anything google
Enjoy having it removed in 1.5-4 years time. Google love to kill off services.

Too bad this is a bunch of programs that don't require internet to work so they might (and probably are) stop supporting/developing them, but you'll pretty much have these programs for as long as you want them.
>>
>>2800709
lol, if a significant amount of people had actually bought it in the last three months they wouldn't be giving it away. The fact that they are doing so now suggests that all the people that thought it worth paying for did so sometime ago. It also suggests that Google don't think that was enough to make it worth committing the resources to develop it further
>>
>>2800730
You get a refund you fucking illiterate nigger faggot go read more motherfucker burn victim bitch

srsly read more
>>
So is this somehow Nikon optimized, or is google just retarded at naming things?
>>
>>2800787

It was first created by a company called Niksomething, then Google bought it, and to preserve the heritage of the software, called it Nik Collection.

It's a combination of business and retarded names.

>If you purchased the Nik Collection in 2016, you will receive a full refund

I can read, do you even know what day it is?
>>
>>2800678
They're actually refunding a lot of people. Past 3 months is done automatically, beyond that is on request. People who have bought last July have had refunds. Nobody posted from earlier than that.

not >>2800781 but I did read it as "Everyone who purchased it won't get a refund" so my bad. get rekt 2015 and beforefags.
>>
so, is the noise reduction worth the download? is it better than lightrooms because ive always hated that; the difference is unnoticeable, and when it is it looks like shit
>>
>>2801015
Yup, plus the presharpener works miracles on the details.
I have uses for at least half the features of the whole collection, considering it is free it's definitely worth the download.

Tell me, what knowledge about photography am I supposed to gain from this interaction. If my pictures are bad, tell me why. Don't just shitpost and expect me to learn some lesson.

I love the noise reduction on Dfine 2, I didn't even have to use control points on this, it just does the work for me.
