you've been tripping since april and i don't think i've ever seen you post a photo limited to 1000px. though you do have a lot to learn aside from how to resize, like deciding on your subject.

as far as i can tell, the only interesting thing here is the fluffy chicken in the wooden crate, i don't know why all that shit to left is there. maybe it had meaning to you at the time but it's lost on me. would have liked to see the front of that fluffy chicken cage with lots of that wooden texture and the pastel greens of the paint with the light brown of the wood and the white chicken.
>>2792500
it's not a very flattering photo given the head's orientation and if you shot with a smaller aperture you could have had the flower in focus as well, but i get that it's a spur of the moment shot and you lose the spontaneity when you reshoot just to adjust your dof. it was definitely a good place with good light for a photograph of a face, but you could have taken more control of the scene and asked for a more flattering pose. another day.
>>2792501
what's your subject? what was your plan? i suspect you realized the scene had potential, but didn't really put a lot of time into choosing what goes into the frame.
>>2792503
yeah the sign's charming, but that's the only really important thing aside from the soft glowing light and it would look better with a straight-on perspective. next time this comes up just get it as straight as possible and fix in post.
>>2792506
i like the subject because it's a cultural thing that a foreigner would find interesting, wearing masks while sick, but the background is too busy. add deeper contrast and darken the background, perhaps even a graduated filter adding darkness to the left.
>>2792499
Can you post more photos? I like your work
>>2792507
the only important thing here is NOW on the... apple watch? jeez, anyway. the out of focus desk clutter isn't aiding the message that i'm getting from this, which is Do Thing Now and general motivation. straight view directly onto the watch's screen, maybe with some interesting light reflected on the surface, could be interesting. especially if you included the light blue shirt on one side and your skin on the other side for the colour scheme. not everything has to be rule of thirds. look up myths of the rule of thirds to kickstart your departure from relying on it too heavily.

very uninteresting. also resize.

>apple watch
It's the Pebble Time.
your processing is shit
also, your photos are shit too
>Recently purchased a used panasonic GM1, with kit lens.
Dont know what that is, doesnt matter
>Good times were had.
Really? Your pictures dont really represent any of the fun you speak of
I originally thought you could point your camera at anything in japan and have an interesting picture based on subject matter alone but alas i was wrong!

"Please post images that are JPG format, smaller than 1 MB, and/or about 1000 pixels on the longest side."
Do note the or statement here. I always try to keep my images below the 1mb mark. Personally I enjoy larger pictures, since it allows for greater scrutiny.
Regarding your comments for the images, they are works of my subjective tastes, and by extension of course always up for different interpretations. These are the choices I've made, while I feel that your comments might be valid to some extent, they would in my mind result in somewhat flat and uninteresting pictures.

Well, this is a country like every other country. There is a lot of bland everday life, that is what interests me. It is not a magical country made out of unicorns and anime.
I appreciate all comments, although I might not agree with all of them. I like to show what I see in this country, which mostly tends to be the everday menial things. Also, another picture.

2000 pixel images allows for greater scrutiny of your pixels, which aren't really relevant to photography. one of the purposes of 1000 pixels is to make people focus on the photo and not the technical aspects. seeing a 1000px photo at 2000px won't make it any better, it just won't be displayed right on some displays.
>>2793498
While true regarding technical aspects, I feel some images do benefit from the ability to scrutinize details. I'll try and upload pictures in the future adhering to the 1000px standard, but I simply refuse to believe that this might be due to technical reasons. Most smartphones today are perfectly capable of displaying full-hd, same goes with most pc monitors.

You do not get to justify yourself by twisting words.
If you are going to completely ignore the accepted standards set by our society, at least own up to it.
You've been here long enough to know that both 1mb and 1000px are two equally critical halves of the same "rule".
You are not given choice between 1mb or 1000px. You are expected to respect to both.
The "or/about" part of the sentence relaxes the strict adherence to the exact number 1000px .
For example, 1200px on the long side wouldn't be a problem, because it is "about" 1000px.
It was decided that we afford ourselves, in good faith, the freedom to police ourselves.
Abusing that freedom, damages the very foundation that is left of this once proud community.

DELETE THIS.
I WANT THIS MEME FORMAT TO DIE!!!!
>>2793509
In that case, if we are to strictly look at semantics, the or statement is entierly superfluous, and highly confusing. If the meaning you propose is the intended one, I'd suggest a revision of the sticky.
The purpose of this rule is to limit server load, I do not see how pixel count effects this, hence, I on a personal level think this rule is outdated.
>>2792500
I'm sorry about your gf's face, but I'm glad that shooting on this child's camera you've finally been able to get your photos in focus and with reasonable depth of field.
I say stick with it.
Also, nips are passive af, shoot better street photos.
>>2793513
Wrong, the purpose of this rule is also so that we see images that have their technical faults removed through resizing so that everything looks sharp and can be processed to be viewed at a known dimension. I don't want to zoom into your photos and critique your girlfriend's pores.
And also because I have to scroll if I view your photos inline here, likely the same with anyone else on a laptop or god forbid a smartphone.
>>2793489
This is your strongest shot here. Good use of black and white, I imagine the fluorescents shit all over the colors. Quite soft at f3.5 and noisy at that ISO! This isn't a fault on the image, though, just an observation!
One thing I noticed about all of your shots here are that you could have taken a moments more time. I get that sometimes you get a candid like with the flowers and by all means grab that moment, but the rest of your pictures are stills that could benefit from a little more time. The train is probably your strongest here. I would have picked this one, but I wish the kid with the mask was in the shot or the wall everyone is resting against more straight.
Always consider what you are cutting off. Spending time with a rangefinder can help develop good habits because you can see what is left out of the frame or cut in half by it.
