Do any of you guys own a Rolleiflex or TLR camera? How do you like it? Share your thoughts.

I have a friend who owns one. I loved the damn thing, he was selling it. But I dislike film so I didn't buy it.

I got a 2.8D for cheap and it is very nice, I've used a Yashica before and the Rollei has a noticeably higher build quality and I find it more fun. As far as image quality goes the Planar/Xenotar are the best wide open but once you stop the lens down it's just as good as the Yashica/Minolta TLRs.
Op here
I've got a 3.5F and I really like the color of film cameras.

owned a Hasselblad 500cm and sold it for a Rollei exactly like the one in your pic
shot about 50-60 rolls through it
Sold it and bought another Hasselblad
I love the look of the 75 3.5 planar but I found it to be top heavy and an awkward camera to use. Compared to the blad, everything is far too delicate and feels like it could break if you don't take absolute care. It's kind of a princess where the blad is a dirty whore.
All in all I just find the Hasselblad to be a far more rugged and versatile camera
I have an Autocord and I love it. By far my favorite camera. I need to get a film scanner and development kit though because sending the film in to be developed and scanned is way too expensive for my current limited budget. Because of that, I don't shoot with it nearly as much as I'd like.

Yes. Yes I do. They are a great and fun camera to use.
I own the Yashica Mat-124G. Love it and they're pretty cheap. Really fun to shoot with

Love my zeiss tlr. Shot a lot of 120 Ektar with it which all came out looking incredible. I would prefer a rolleiflex but could never justify the cost with how good this performs. If I were to do it again I'd probably stick with this ikoflex. It has nicer ground glass than an equivalent priced rolleiflex and has a tessar lens to boot.
It needs to be opened up soon though, the slow shutter speeds are starting to gum up really bad

tlr are sexy beasts. cant use mine right now because im fucking crippled.
I've got one, and I can guarantee you that I have no business owning it. I'm so incredibility new to photography it hurts (4 rolls of film ever, and no digital camera experience) but it was the one Granddad had, and I try to do my best with it.
This seems like a decent enough place to ask because it doesn't deserve it's own thread, but can these cameras do star trail photography? Can they catch the milky way?
>>2780876
star trails with colour film should be possible but still, sharp images without any blurring would be really hard with colour film. There's not much of it around that is sensitive enough to shoot astrophotography.
Black and white film should do it no bother though

yo, gimme one

I really want to get one since my Bronica is too heavy for regular shooting, and it seems like prices have gone down on them since I last checked a couple of years ago.
I have a Mamiya C33, but it broke after a few rolls and I never got around to fixing it. (There's a metal bar that runs across the film chamber and drives the frame counter mechanism. That bar snapped, and without it the camera just keeps cranking and won't stop on the next frame.)
It took decent photos before it broke, though. I can't find any of my film from it, I think maybe it ended up with my ex-GF's stuff when she moved out, but here's the one snapshit I still have easy access to.

Where do you guys go for Rollei peripherals like lens covers, cases and the thing on the lower lens in the OP?
I tried to pick up a lens cover twice for mine and neither of them fit. I know what model mine is based on the vin number, but still no luck.
>>2780975
I was thinking of trying it with some 3200 Ilford, is that film any good?
>>2781017
fuck no, use iso 25 film.
>>2781078
I thought the faster films would pick up the low lights better, would it be too grainy?
>>2781089
itll be pure kino.
>>2781005
I've worked long and hard to build that collection. My goal is to have 1 of each pre-war Rollei model.
>>2781013
Ebay; camera shows; and go find a full service camera store preferably one that's been around for a while, they usually have draws of stuff somewhere.
>>2781712
you slid and then you shoot. if this mechanism doesnt work, its misfunctioning.
>>2781712
you just slide the button over ion the top and that's it. If it's not working usually the mechanism needs to be cleaned and lubricated, people didn't use them often and after 50 years the lubricants in there get a little sticky. If that's not it then there is something actually broken, but very rarely have I ever seen something actually broken on a Rollei.

Just saw this:
http://www.pentaxforums.com/articles/photo-articles/astrophotography-part-4-using-film.html
I'm thinking of buying a TLR w/ 2.8 lens. What will best suit me? My budget is ~$500 USD. I will also have to buy a V650 or alike to scan, I only have a Plustek 8100 and I would sell it.
>>2778343
I have a yashica A and Mat, they're okay, I don't like how heavy or awkward they are to shoot, I'd rather have a medium format slr like a hassleblad
>>2781012
Does it have a window so you could just manually stop when you see the film indicator?
