I'm considering finally giving in and getting an instagram.
What your recommended workflows from camera to uploading? The thing that kinda turns me off is how everyone has to be uploaded via phone, I'm worried about losing quality and the whole 1:1 thing.

Instagram is not about quality. It's for shitty phone screens. And the 1:1 is not a problem anymore. You can post any ratio you want.
Personally I mostly use Instagram for phone pictures. Nice phone pictures, but phone pictures in the end. Edit in vsco and upload.
