Who?
>>2745049
really liked the wedding one
least fav is wildlife
Feels like I'm on 500px
>>2745119
how come
>>2745049
Hey I remember this fella. Aussie cunt, real cool cunt.
i recall hiding that thread very early, but i do remember anons requesting some pixel peeping jpg closeups of that very photo. lots of hate to the guy too. lol this board.
Wait, is this that 19 year old kid with a trust fund who was an assistant and was shamelessly aping Joey L?
>>2745218
Yea him
>>2745222
lol
This photo is isi tier :/
>>2745236
Maybe this one, but some of his others were really good
Wait, isn't the award quite prestigious? The winner gets a million SEK but what do the others?
Kinda goes to show how this board can be sometimes, haha.
>>2745245
>The winner gets a million SEK but what do the others?
contacts and prestige for life and countless expositions in museums and galleries. also huge prints. the kid hit the jackpot.
>>2745249
The kid is already a millionaire. He was born into the jackpot. It's also likely that his connections and privilege put him in contention for this award. It's not like hasselblad was lurking his Flickr all hard and finally made the move.
>>2745250
>Fucking submissions, how do they work?
>>2745251
Uh huh.
Great for him! dont have to be all salty about it.
>>2745244
But that one won.
>>2745250
>The kid is already a millionaire.
>privilege
salty and hella dumb.
so strange to me that this photo won an award.
its a great photo but when put next to all the others that won its just fucking ordinary and bland.
>>2745263
That's money.
>>2745263
You haven't seen the other submissions. This isn't "best photo in the world" it was best photo they had to choose from in that category. and c'mon, it's pretty good.
>>2745260
but both things are true.
That pic with the pregnant girl in papa smurf pants is just fucking weird.
>>2745251
lol
>>2745319
It's amazing imo.
Very cool. Feel good story of the year, so far.
>>2745088
> really liked the wedding one
what?
>>2746339
the faggots.
>>2745245
>a million SEK
so about $3.50?
Kek I remember this guy and his thread.
Good for him. Does he still lurk/post here?
>all of the people in this thread who have silently convinced themselves that "if he can do it, i can do it too!"

Complain and moan, these people are great.
>>2746421
Or, if not, that it's because he was lucky and didn't deserve it in the first place.
>>2746460
The two aren't mutually exclusive. The dude was lucky to be born into enough money to buy a Hasselblad at age 19, a full profoto kit, have the social standing (and wardrobe) to make the connections to assist high end commercial photographers, and have the luxury of unlimited travel to exotic locations full of exotic brown people.
Who's to say that he didn't create a photo that doesn't deserve accolades?
>>2746492
this guy is mad.
>>2746498
Am I? What gives you that impression?
>>2746505
He's wrong, you're not mad, but you are a bitch. Blaming external factors for success, so you don't have to internalize your own lack of success, and can blame the world for not having handed it to you.
Equipment can be bought with money acquired while working at a job. Connections can be made by being a respectable and hard working member of the photo community.
>the luxury of unlimited travel to exotic locatoions
really dude? Many people travel all of the world for work. Many people travel specifically for photo projects, assigned by people looking to get the photos. Travel photography is very very possible for people who weren't born rich.
It's very very difficult, however, for people who weren't born with the drive or personal awareness required to be talented.
>>2746530
That's great and I agree 100% with you, but none of that is true for the kid we're talking about.
>>2745049
>http://www.bjp-online.com/2016/01/hasselblad-masters-award-announce-ten-global-winners/
this is just post-processing masturbation awards
>>2746546
Or you just aren't experienced or talented enough yet to realize that your photos aren't finished until they're processed, and your "purity and realism" workflow only exists because of your total lack of creativity, direction-driven shooting style, and talent with a processing program.
In the real world of good, finished products, processing is absolutely vital.
>ITT
its like the concept of success is so alien to you guys that your first reaction to it is to negate and be disgusted by it. an anon won a big, respectable award, lets celebrate it.

>>2746549
Hey, I am and was always happy for the fella :(
>>2746549
>anon
He posted like three times total on this board. The first two times were to shitpost and brag about how rich his parents were. The third time was to post his portfolio for admiration. I guarantee he also posted it on about ten other boards. It's not like he was some integral member of the community and we helped build up his skill with outer critique. Calling him "one of us" is a pathetic beta attempt at claiming some of his success for your own.
>>2746566
>He posted like three times total on this board. The first two times were to shitpost and brag about how rich his parents were.
seems like a proper /p/ member. maybe you could handle the bantz and fell like an inadequate poorfag.
>The third time was to post his portfolio for admiration.
god forbid someone proudly posts good stuff. why didnt he post shit shots for everyone to shred to pieces? yeah, mediocrity rules.
>I guarantee he also posted it on about ten other boards. It's not like he was some integral member of the community and we helped build up his skill with outer critique.
you dont know any of this.
>>2746583
Yeah, that all must be true.
Keep practicing, buddy. I'm sure you're next in line. ;)
>>2746586
>I'm sure you're next in line
for what?
>>2746586
just report and move on
maybe the mods will recognize it's trolling
>>2746590
Prestigious awards bestowed by camera manufacturers, obviously.
>>2746592
>anon feels triggered and "trolled" by a hard workers achievement
lmao you cant make this up.
are you going to report threads with good photos too?
>>2746593
but how? i havent applied to any of those contests.
Guys, the contest was free to enter and you couldn't write anything about your images. Flights to PNG cost like 1000 bucks plus I lived there for 6 years so free accomodation etc. could have shot it on a d40 and yongnuo. Anyone who things differently needs to get out of the basement and stop being butthurt that I get a second Hasselblad. Totally unrelated to my commercial/fashion stuff

>>2745250
Dude both of my parents and contacts have zilch to do with photography- life's easy, but it would have been a whole lot easier in science or politics, trust me
>>2746619

it really is horrible lol the background is in such bad taste and the shoop is just gross
This is a photoshop contest for rich people
I like the forest one
>>2747574
>This is a photoshop contest for rich people
Except the rules say you don't have to use a Hasselblad, and Hasselblad's market is almost entirely professionals producing the highest quality commercial work, which of course requires flawless retouching.
Stay mad, "madman".
>>2747487
jelly jelly
>>2747487
The background makes the picture what it is.
What "shoop" is gross?
>>2747598
That she looks like a painting I assume
I dont like the photo at all myself. Not a fan of studio shit
>>2747598
>The background makes the picture what it is.
If you meant a tacky piece of shit I totally agree.
I mean trying to make it look painterly leave it to eastern european women I guess. At least she had the good sense not to impose a canvas texture but you know she tried it!
