What, specifically, did this guy do to get this look in post?
I'm talking curves, layers, gradient maps? How can I emulate this?
Images like the one on the left are a good example.

You can achieve it with VSCO presets, curves, wb. Picrelated is mine.

Close but no cigar. Colors are similar to the OP but it's subtly different on the whole. The OP image is much softer to start with. You can get close to the film look with digital but you'll never fully replicate it

It's 2 years old foto. I didn't have the aim to make it look like op pic, just remembered that I had something similar to it.

This. Those don't strike me as Portra greens, and the highlights are much too magenta.
