What can you do to avoid leeches?
Going on a trip soon. Last summer went to the same place and got some leeches on my legs. Obviously, stay out of slow moving water, but what else?

as far as keeping leeches off your body wholesale I'm not sure, but I do know that proper deployment of an anti-tick condom will keep leeches off your dick and out of your bladder.

I like to pull them off of me and put them in a bucket full of water, sometimes I like to fill a bathtub and take a bath with them. It is a spiritual and sexual feeling to feel them suck and wriggle against me. It is there I see that all life is connected.

This can Not be a thing! Is this seriously something you have to worry about in the USA??? Because Fuck That! I live in Australia and every second animal here has enough poison to kill you dead or cause so much pain to make you wish for it, and I would rather brave those risks then risk a fucking tick up my dick after a simple hike.

Bloodly struth, no wonder yanks dont /out/.

Tuck pants into socks, wear gaiters.

Insect repellents with plenty of DEET in them usually work. But you need to use a lot. If you don't want it on your skin put it on your clothing.

I was hoping for a serious discussion on how to keep these little cunts off me.

Op here.
I dunno if wearing gaiters pants and socks is an option when cooling off in a stream. And deet washes off. They're leeches, not mosquitos...

Anyone got anything or is there basically nothing short of avoiding the water? Don't fail me, /out/ you're my only hope.

I'm sure its been mentioned but TL;DR
NO, did you not see Stand By Me?
Those boys were fully clothed and filming a movie and the leeches got on his ball sack. That was not in the original script. It got added when it happened.

Bottom line is, if there are leeches, they will get on you.

Wear Gators and full trousers

Tropical lurker here. Citronella oil. Or I boil some tobacco and use the water on my skin they hate that shit, and they have very sensitive smell sense. If they do get into your eye(s) and is already feeding DON'T pull it out, trust me you'll do more damage if you do(based from experience). just let them finish feeding. they'll go out after. if you're really grossed out by them wearing a pantyhose will prevent them from entering and they can't bite through the fabric.

Same dude, I realize not everybody has same tobacco tolerance. You might get a nicotine high when you apply the steeped tobacco water on your skin, I have a high tolerance so I don't really care if I put it on my skin.

By being a faggot that is afraid of a little blood letting. Leeches are by far safer than ticks or disease carrying mosquitos
