I wish I could, but there's too much goddamned light pollution. It's particularly stupid because I live on the outskirts of a town of about 10,000 people, but it's still too bright.

Manually focus on a star, use a highish iso, 1600 or 3200, lens wide open, wide lens. Exposure time will vary depending on focalnlength before stars start to streak, but if reasonably side 15-20 seconds is good.

The wider the lens, the sharper and the stars will appear. Easiest way to focus on a star is just turn it all the way to infinite and turn back two or three millimetres. Keep the lens as open as your can, or maybe 1 stop ahead. I used a flash to light up the road, but you can use your phone or car headlights etc. there is a rule of thumb for not getting star trails; 550 รท (focal length) = exposure time.
