I can rip off 50 rnds in 6 seconds when it's running right.

Fun.

Not the OP, but what do you think about the Hoyt Carbon Spyder ZT34? I've shot a cheap Chinese bow for a year and a half now, and I'm looking to step up a bit, maybe try hunting a bit.

Go to a shop and try them out. Know your price range and stick to it unless you're willing to save. They all have a different feel and you should go with the one that is most comfortable to you in terms of weight and draw cycle. Hoyt has a pretty rich history of stealing from other companies so their stuff tends to be pretty cutting edge and the quality is nothing to scoff at but do your research.
Don't over bow yourself in terms of draw weight either. Focus on developing good fundamentals before you start working with weights that aren't comfortable for at least 20-30 shots. It would be advisable to take a lesson if you're new once you select a bow, then again after you have some practice under your belt.
I think I went through almost two dozen bows at 4 stores/shops before I decided on one and if I were right handed it probably would have been more.

Is the ZT34 the long draw model? I'd make sure before buying (unless of course you have a 30"+ draw length and you're buying a long draw bow on purpose because that's what you need).

The carbon spyder 34 on paper looks like a nice bow. 34" ATA will hold a little nicer for longer distance shooting, a carbon riser keeps the weight down for being a slightly longer bow, 330fps is respectable.

While the carbon spyder 34 wouldn't be a bad choice at all, did you pick it out for any particular reason? At that price point there are a reasonable few options for 33-35" ATA bows if that's the draw. Alternately, if the 340fps advertised on the ZT 34 was it, plenty of speed bows around for that money too. Worth having a look around.

which chinese bow are you shooting?

in what price range do usable compound bows start?

is there a compound equivalent to the samick sage?

is it stupid to get a compound bow when there is no place around for maintenance?
