Which is better for camping/survival?
Box of matches or a small bag of lighters?

You can't have both. you have to save space
>>
>>801455
lighters don't afraid of anything anon and they're easier than Canadian japgirls. plus one-hand-no-fuss operation.
>>
>>801482
just take one lighter out of the bag and add a box of matches
problem solved

> Canadian Jap girls
I fist them in thier asses and make them talk like a muppet for no fuss, one-handed operation.
>>
>>801455
This is very crucial because you can't pack both.
The only advantage of lighters is that you exactly know how many chances you have left

This honestly. How else are you gonna dab innawoods?
>>
>>801455
You take 2 of both and a fire starter to top it off.

Tools that grant you an ability to start fire are one of the most crucial parts of your pack, they also weight next to nothing and take no space.

But if you insist on being fucking autistic, stormproof matches would be probably the best pick.

Lighters are superior to both matches and ferro rods.

The backup to my lighter is another brand new lighter.

A bic will last for at least an order of magnitude longer than a box of matches, and about the same as a firesteel. It's easy to use, reliable, convenient, durable and cheap. You can carry what you like, it doesn't bother me, but don't delude yourself into thinking that diversifying your "backups" is necessary or inherently advantageous.

The only drawback to a lighter is in the frigid frosty freeze they fail (just because the gas condenses and you lose pressure). To a lesser extent elevation can be an issue if you're going high enough.

BUT not to worry! In summer I carry condoms to keep ticks and leeches out of my peehole. This isn't necessary in winter so instead I use the condoms to store batteries and lighters in my rectum to keep them warm.
>>
>>802458
Keep it in your pocket, no condom required!

Strike-anywhere matches in a waterproof container.
Lighters are difficult to use with cold hands and don't work when you need them the most.
I had a top of the line weatherproof lighter and the igniter broke.
>>
>>802384
I had one of that case, a blue one pit it broke.

On another note, anyone have tips for starting fires in the rain with wet wood and little kindling?
Recently went on a trip here and couldn't get a fire going despite having a little dry bark and a coffee filter to act as kindling
I'm not an experienced firestarter and would like some tips
>>
>>808205
I just googled "pussy pouch" just for the hell of it.

Now I know things I don't want to know.
>>
Why not just bring fire with you?
>>
PSA: Wrap a ziptie under the button on a Bic lighter to keep the fluid from leaking out in your pack.

I used some Doritos to get my fire started when nothing else worked desu
>>
Matches, always.
>>
>>801455
Lighter takes up less space for the number of fires you can start with it and they can get wet without much problems.
>>
>>808481
Nah, if you're not a retard you can fix it so that it slides on and off easily. But I wouldn't expect such ingenuity from the autists on here.
>>
>>801482
how much fucking space does a lighter and matches take up?

for me i bring a bic lighter and some stormproof matches
>>
>>808468
i use o-rings.
depending on the size, you can probably still depress the gas switch enough for gas to leak out if you squeeze it really hard, but i don't think it will keep getting knocked open in your bag and let all the gas out under 'normal' conditions
also, a piece of tape over the switch will keep it in place too
