g'day fellas
I'm a /p/hotographer and I love the /out/doors, recently introduced to this board.
Any kiwis on here or tourists in NZ? I wanna head down south to the alps. I don't mind going alone but it's always good to have company. All my mates are broke or don't like hikes. I'll be primarily headed for photos. Trying to keep it as cheap as possible - drive there from Auckland (I can pick you up on the way if you live south of Auckland), it'd be nice if you have a tent, but we can always hire a room.
Any questions etc - post below!

I don't know any specific trails. I was gonna look up some nice walks near by Aoraki. But anywhere with mountains is good aye.

West Coaster here. You see them better from this side, when its not raining.

So like Queenstown and shit? I wanna actually get in the ranges and camp for sunrise-light. Would you join anon?

Q/town? Hell no. West Coast, near Hokitika.
Arthurs Pass National Park, Westland and Paparoa NPs all within in easy drive. McArthur Ranges, within easy walk.
You get a better sunset than sunrise here though, right down into the sea.

Mount Brown is a good tramp. There's a hut up the top of it, so a 2 dayer isn't too bad.

The DOC website is really good for both track and hut information, would recommend.
