What's the best binoculars for under $100?
I never bought any before and don't even know which brands are considered good. The pair I use now are from World War 2 and don't look a whole lot different than pic related, though mine are in better shape. I think my grandfather's uncle picked them up or traded for them, since it says "made in occupied Japan" on them.
They're 7x50 and are pretty good, obviously durable, but they're heavy and it makes wildlife watching a pain. I want to get something lighter and hopefully more powerful since trying to ID birds can be hard with these if I can't see their details well. I see a lot of 10x50's out there but I also read if you get above 8 magnification it actually gets worse because the instability of your hands makes the image unsteady. If that's true I'll probably just stick with what I got because I really like them, but it would be nice to have something more compact and light.
