In fact, my job requires I wear a long sleeve shirt even in 110 degree heat doing intense physical labor.

I don't own shorts and I sure's tits won't go hiking with bare legs. Chin up chief, I used to hike Runyon Canyon at high noon in LA in muh jeans and you get used to it just fine.

Loose fitting pants. You'll get sun protection, which will spare you having hot lets at night... and it'll protect you from walking through shrubs.
Well defined trail you could use shorts. Bushwacking and exploration gonna have to recommend pants and boots.
