Opinions on Filson's new tent?

Somewhere out there real people buy this shit

Why not just bring a plastic garden shed with you? It's 1/10 of the price and weighs about the same.
>>
>>783318

If you're going to ask for $1000 for that, you might as well ask for $3000.
>>
>>783318
I'm totally fine with people paying for that. They are obviously hipsters because not even larpers are that stupid
>>
>>783318
I'd like to meet the people who buy this item. I have an amazing rustic looking axe that I'd be willing to part with for about $700, and 12" cast iron skillet for $500.

Probably could sell my house to them for 10x what I paid for it too. Or the bridge down the road.

How ever did I know it would be overpriced before even looking at the pic.

Id think that would be made out of titanium or something but fucking 2.5 pounds? Doesnt a stove + fuel can weight less?

There are lots of hipsters in the motorcycle world. It's hard to find an old Honda CB that hasn't been chopped up into a "cafe racer".

Anything that says Filson on it is overpriced.

I don't know why anyone would by this shitty wedge tent when you can literally buy one that is the same, but better quality from Tentsmiths for around $400.

>>
>>783668
Eh, their upland hunting clothes are hard to beat. Double tin cloth bibs and a tin cloth jacket and no thorns will stab you when bird/rabbit hunting, and the combo isn't as insane as the $1000 tent.

But they stopped making serious outdoor some while back and got into the lifestyle game. When I saw /fa/ styleforums types with Filson boots and bags on the streets of Chicago and NYC I knew it was the start of the downfall.

>>
If you want more cringe worthy motorcycle stuff, look up "A Story Worth Living". Holy shit it is awful. Bunch of beta fag christians talking about feelings and smoking cigars, pretending to be "manly". I've never seen so many people walk out of a theater before.

I'm amazed at the $1000 cost, that's Hilleberg territory. At least one of those can survive Antarctica and gnarly mountaineering trips. Pic related solo winter climb of Denali.

Im kinda curious now.. A square yard of duck canvas untreated is 10 dollars at my supplier each panel is probably a yard before sewn. So should be like 75 dollars for a single side. *2 is 150. Plus the back and door is going to be another couple of yards. Lets say 6 per side so thats another 120 + 150 is a total of 270 + a 20 dollar none shit water tight zipper. 290. Plus some decent thread should be like 8 bucks or so 298.. Ontop of that those straps so lets assume they are nylon. Another 25 bucks. 323 for just the fabric sewn up. To treat the whole thing is gonna be at least 100 bucks in treatment. 423.. Then its pretty much all the stuff you need for staking it down and guidelines and stuff. Id personally charge like 250bucks on my labor alone to sew something like this $673 total range on to make something of this size in the real world. Now its a bit off from 1000. A whole 300+ off. But I wouldn't say it was TOTALLY unreasonable. Especially if it carried some sort of warranty (i wouldn't offer those) or if it used some super fancy way of sealing the canvas that would up its over all construction cost. And considering the vendor themselves wants to make money... Yeah I can actually justify that cost somewhat. Would I pay it? No because I have my own skills, clearly.

Couldn't finish it. I just don't know how the disconnect, the gulf between their sheltered, pampered lives and reality can be so great.

We can only hope that they burn their wallets and wander off into Denali National Park to die.
