well other than fire, you can poison it with special stump killer. then bury it back over and hope for the best.
Or wrap a chain around it really well and pull on it with your truck. (use caution with this. if the chain breaks loose and goes flying could seriously hurt something, maybe)
Or keep digging
or all of the above.
Also depends on your end goal, do you want to put something in its place? does it have to be completely removed?
Are you trying to ensure it doesn't grow back in the future?

I got the ball out but there is a bigger one that goes a few feet down. We're most likely just gonna put wood chips over it. The other people working are suggestion fire so we are looking for approval. No trucks can get back here sadly, a lot of mess in the way.
Why did that little root ball post such a problem? Don't you have a mattock?
First and foremost if stepdad cant pony up for some tools he's a dick.
You need an axe a spud bar a 8lb sledge and a SHARP SHOVEL. Smack the top of the stump pry all around and chop the roots by the stump and 2 feet out. Dig out the dirt and repeat. If it has a long taproot you are screwed.

well if thats it. then you guys should consider putting some kind of tree/stump poison on top of it before you bury it. should help prevent it from growing back
