Hey /out/ recently started getting into doing a lot of outdoor activities solo, just wondering if anyone had any tips or input on Solo camping.

What are the things you think you need to improve?

much like sex, /out/ is better with another person and even better in a group.
If you're stealth camping, best time to set a fire is at sunset.
Stretch. You don't wanna get injured alone.
Bring some potent binoculars and look up at night.
Bring a book. (you will process things differently when reading in the woods)
Resist the urge. put down the phone.
Remember you're not splitting the load. Just bring the essential.

don't want to sound like a total faggot, but tell someone where you're going and when you expect to be back.

well, that's essential for me. non-essential would be a tripod for the binoculars or a sketchbook I know I never gonna use but I still keep forcing myself to bring every then and now because I like the idea of sketching in the woods but I cannot get bother to draw fucking trees.

Was just messing with you. I do think a book is essential, and I do carry a small sketchbook with a couple pencils and watercolor pencils. I have thought about bringin my binoculars but they are just too big (soligor that I received as a gift years ago and never ever used)

man, take em with you. without a doubt. 7x50 or 8x40? look around Vega this time of the year. The fucking spectacle. Do you have some sketches to share?

not a faggot. that's common sense

Some of my favorite backpacking trips have been solo. Solo backing is so different from going with a group it's like apples and oranges.
Group camping is a social thing,
solo camping can feel more like a religious experience

Just bringing a cheap ass pair of binoculars can really add to your trip
