Hey /out/ you guys have any recommendations for footwear for hiking?
I don't go on very serious hikes but I need something that can climb rocky hills.

Go to you local outdoor shop and try on some trail shoes like the ones on the right in your pic. All the major brands have gortex variants of their trail running shoes so consider that if you live in an area that gets a lot of rain.

Look for vibram soles

pretty much this
i refuse to use hiking shoes w/o vibram soles
well, without knowing exactly what your feet are like and what you're going to use them for it's hard to give a specific recommendation. you really need to go try a bunch on and see what feels good.
fwiw i have a pair of vasque mindbenders. i have very wide feet and needed shoes for backpacking with a very heavy load, rock climbing approaches, and talus hopping. i bought them because they have super stiff soles which are great on super rocky or rooty terrain or on dirt trails, but the lack of cushioning is death when i have to wear them for 30 minutes in a grocery store.

unless you're wearing them in the snow i don't like goretex low top shoes because it's too easy to get water in them, and once they get wet they stay wet.

Anyone have experience with Danner boots?

Yep
Theyre great for fall and winter, order a half size down. Dont expect to wear them in summer or spring, they'll suck up rain and drown your feet in sweat.

Merrel is god tier for comfy hiking. If you are looking to be a mountain man then get a logger or firefighter's boot.

Mountain men wore mukluks and moccasins
Boots are shit for climbing
I had 6 pairs of merrel moab vent. Have bought my next pair a few days ago. They are good for maybe 1600 to 2000km and are cheap. I wear them daily now.
If you walk where there are no trails look elsewhere tho.
I'm having a lot of trouble deciding on my next pair.
What do you guys think? Worth $200?

I got these they are very comfortable

What else can you get for 200 that is goretex lined and has vibram soles?
>>765247
get something lightweight, flexible and comfy, like some version of the Merrell Moab.
PROTIP: no one puts real footbeds in new shoes anymore. You have to buy a good set of footbed inserts for the full package

I love Merrells. but for anything but arctic winter or genuine rainforest shit I prefer the more breathable models like the Moab.

Thicker socks?
Not OP here, but can anyone recommend a good mid weight boot under 200? Would be mainly used on day hikes and 3-5 day backpacking trips
