Already have a beach house reserved in Oregon
Not /out/ because we're bringing my father and mother, if she is still alive by then

Good thread

that blue line almost goes right over my town. cool.

Idaho fag here, might have to take a jaunt up into Sawtooth or Boise NF. Thanks for the graphics, pretty cool.
>>
Nebraska sounds like it would be cool, just seeing the darkness overtake the endless corn fields. Tough part would be finding a decent vantage point with a bit of elevation.
>>
fyi hotels in places even like Wyoming are getting booked this early. I know this is /out/ but still important to mention.

I'm in Socal, I cant imagine I'll be bothered to go so far north to view it.
>>
UT here,

anyone know of good camping along the trail in Wyoming? I'd love to make it up there, I've never been camping out of state and I think this would be one hell of a way to start that journey.
>>
I'm from Washington, Oregon is close but its too iffy on the weather. My cousins have a place in Kethcum Idaho. Should be easy to dash up near Stanley on that date
>>
>>759134
you may see it only once in a lifetime , total darkness during the day

here is what it might look like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOvWioz4PoQ

This
I'm 48 and this is my first good chance
Watch it be cloudy
>>
>>760148
To be this stupid and thinking clouds will prevent a total eclipse from happening.
How have you survived to 48?
>>
>>760283
Can you see the sun when it's completely cloudy, Copernicus?
>>
>>760351
Can you see pure darkness with your eyes closed numbnutz?

This is what people want to see, fucktard. You can't see this if it's cloudy
>>
Wait is this a giant trail or am I total retard?
>>
>>760404
Huh?

The image is where in the US you'll be able to best see the eclipse as the Earth spins that day.
>>
>>760396
Every kid learns in 1st grade you can't look at an eclipse.
It's about the eeriness of going pitch dark in the day time.
>>
>>760561
A partial eclipse, yes, but you can look at a total eclipse
http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEhelp/safety2.html
And who wouldn't have glasses with them that allowed them to look at it as it approaches totality?
>>
>>760561
Looks like someone didn't make it past first grade >>760613
>>
>>760613
>who wouldn't
Better question is who would have proper eyewear?
Welders
Who's wouldn't?
Everyone else
>>
>>760737
>who would have proper eyewear?
teachers, amateur astronomers, anyone who wanted to enjoy looking at it etc.
Be prepared sc/out/s

NASA, "The only time that the Sun can be viewed safely with the naked eye is during a total eclipse, when the Moon completely covers the disk of the Sun. "
