Camping Tips and tricks? "Not a life hack" Edition?
Actually made this, it works pretty good.
>>758134
An actual fishing kit will do much better. And knowing how to make traps including fisshing would do better. But a couple hooks and weights just might save you if you have a good idea of how to fish.
>>758144
I thankfully do, I only need the rod, and hooks and bait. I'll upload a picture of the container in a min.
This is a good trick for the fisherpeople on /out/ who have a problem with the hooks on crankbaits getting all tangled up. Using the rubberbands has saved me many a headache, somebody from here actually posted this video as advice.
The little rubberbands can be found in any drug store like Walgreens in the hair care section. They are only $2 for a bag of around 200 of them.

Does anyone have any other than fishing? I've got that shit covered.

What are you looking for exactly? Like mint tin survival pack type infographics or something?

Yeah, or any tips you think would be helpful, friend.
>>758178
neat thanks for the tip
>>758225
>sharpen your blade and start a roaring fire at the same time
What's the problem?

Duuude, head on over to Best Glide ASE, http://bestglide.com/fishing_series_survival_kits.html

I made my own, let me add the pic now

>not a shill
>actually comes to offer his overpriced """""""survival""""""" """""""fishing""""""" kits
At least sell the product, explain why the config, why you think they work, actually share some knowledge or something man. You have to make a living we all know that, fair enough, but share some with us neets and kids.
>>758134
What's that green thing attached to the side?
>>758397
Presumably something with a sharp blade.
>>758299
>"""""""
Hi leddit.
>>758225
dont do this. use the back of the blade so you dont ruin your edge. it will spark just as much. morans!
>>758494
>ruin your edge
That's what sharpening stones are for. It doesn't ruin the edge at all.
>>758502
Babbys 1st /out/ troll.
Here is the thing I made. It includes:
4 weights
2 spinners
4 hooks
2 Swivel Leaders
That's that.
I don't know why these aren't more popular on here.

Good call anon
cheers

ive never been convinced that these are superior to a bushcraft trap. one requires just some cordage, and the other requires invested space.
it falls under the "can be fabricated" circle
>>758878
who cares, they're 3 bucks a piece. I'm sure they will be fine to use once put in practice.
>>758868
>I don't know why these aren't more popular on here.
Because they are illegal in a number of jurisdictions...
i want to buy a cheap kit on ebay.
any link?
>>758868
Nice, I had no idea these things existed. Thanks anon.
>>759125
www.ebay.com
Tips:
1. Wrap a foot of duct tape around your disposable lighter.
2. Use boot laces that are over length, laces most frequently break at the top eyelet and the extra length lets you quickly shuffle the lace around and get going again.
3. When hiking plan a day for staying in one place and getting a good meal, make bread, washing, fixing gear, repacking, resting and such every five or six days.
4. Carry little trinkets to swap with tourists you meet.
5. Plan alternate routes out of your area in case your trail is blocked.
>>759404
These are the things I want to hear. Thanks anon!
>>759409
Wait this is going to end up as some kind of buzzfeed list next week, isn't it
>>759412
Good thing I don't live where you do then
>>758397
It's a tiny spring loaded box cutter style razor blade. I recognized it from previous use, they're pretty good for cutting line and what not
>>758868
Nice work anon.
Cheers.
>>759404
>make bread
for once someone else who actually knows how the fuck to spend a day.
>>759429
Not that anon but I do this as well.
You could carry them separately but I mix the ingredients together and then portion them out into individual zip lock bags. Bread and bannock.
Absolutely god tier breakfast
>>758134
I had an old ducks back rain cover for my pack that i replaced a couple years ago. I took the little mini pack that straps to the outside of your pack which is about 4 inch by 3 by 2. (pic related, little think in lower right). I carry basically all my miscellaneous gear in there especially small stuff. In my opinion everything should easily be able to fit in there - 100 ft chord, matches/lighter, headlamp, first aid, compass, emergency flint, weed, extra batteries, whistle, advil, and other stuff like that. It helps keep me organized and anything that isn't primary to my kit that doesn't fit in there requires an extreme second look if I'm still going to take it.
>>759454
Here's the pic, lower right
>>759441
What do you cook the bread in? I take a cast iron dutch oven with me when I go car camping but I have no idea how I'd cook bread on my aluminum mess kit that I use when hiking / backpacking / motorcycle camping.
>>759476
See pic related. Obviously debark the stick first. Or you could use a flat rock.
When I was a kid we used to put it in aluminium foil and put that on the hot coals, but I've seen too many wads of foil just left in fire pits, so I agree with Uncle Ray now that you should just never use it.
Personally I just cook it in my stainless steel cup.
>>759489
Interesting, I'll have to do some experimenting I guess. How do you keep the bottom of the bread from getting burnt when you cook it in your cup?
>>759494
You don't put it on the fire, you put it near the fire. Close enough that you couldn't hold your hand there for 5 seconds, but not close enough for the flames to touch.
>>759505
Alright, I was thinking you were putting the cup on some coals or something. Just putting it in the general proximity of the campfire makes sense. Have you ever tried it with cornbread? Seems like a little camp-cup would make a perfect sized cornbread muffin.
>>759507
Just experiment dude, you'll figure it out.
But make sure you ditch the aluminium and go for stainless. Shit's easier to cook with and won't give you alzheimers.
>>759521
Yeah, I've been meaning to get a decent stainless set at some point, I just had an old Coleman 5pc aluminum mess kit from my days in Cub Scouts that I dug out when I decided to try out backpacking and motorcycle camping as an adult.
>>759441
You got a recipe, baby?
>>759412
good shout
thanks
I don't have a mess kit, unfortunately. I've got some plates, a fork and spoon set, and a couple of pots and pans
>>759694
>recipe for baby
I have several in fact.
>>759790
perfect. Roasted or boiled?
>>759300
yes i know. but i didnot found any cheap and small kit.
>>759694
I hear the sarcasm but if anyone's actually interested, Uncle Ray has a breddy gud bannock recipe
>https://blog.raymears.com/2015/05/22/how-to-cook-outdoors-cree-bannock/comment-page-1/
Then there's hard tack (I don't bother with the self-rasing)
>>760377
I wasn't being sarcastic, brude. I seriously wanted to know.
>>758986
Can confirm. Illegal here in Illinois.
>>758178
I personally use wine bottle corks (not sure if that's the right word ?). I cut them in 3-4mm thick slices, cut an opening to the middle of the slice and secure my hooks with it.
Works pretty well
>>762743
They sell treble hook covers like pic related too, but in my situation it would make them too bulky. I can barely close the lid of that tackle box in the first place.
For when you are sleeping /out/ and cant fall asleep

And don't come back until you're an adult.
