Take more food, you didn't list a stove and fuel but I assume you're taking one. Compass and lighter or matches too.

Got a dog? Pigs are alot easier to shoot when theyre bailed than when theyre on the go. Im from Canterbury and id recommend you chuck in some seasoning herbs and spices for anything you intend to kill and eat. It makes rabbits far more tasty

What book are you using? I'd like something similar.
Also, why take the same book each if you're not separating? Seems to me you could shave some weight by carrying one book between the both of you.
bro, you forgot scroggin.

Solar USB charger for your phones (1 each)
Solar battery charger + rechargables (if carrying equipment which uses AAs or w/e)
Emergency locator beacon (1 each)
Jar of marmite
Biltong for meat
Maybe some dried veges
Fruit cordial concentrate (store it in a plastic bottle)
If you want to take lots of books put them on your phone or a kindle, it will save weight.
It'll be fucking cold in the south so if you're going there be very fucking prepared. A lot of north islanders don't realise the temperature difference in winter.
